A Scheduler or Operations Coordinator provides scheduling and logistical support for an office, company or organization. May specialize in scheduling required for production or for administrative work.
Overview The Surgical Services Scheduler is responsible for scheduling cases electronically taking information from the telephone of via faxed reservation. This individual ensures that all practices are followed to maintain excellent records for all cases booked. Daily responsibilities include booking cases into the schedule in a timely manner with accuracy. The Surgical Services Scheduler demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant HealthCare and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation. Responsibilities Assist offices/ physicians in posting cases to the Endoscopy and surgery schedule. Assists Registrar with Point of Service collection of copays and deductibles Performs other duties as assigned. Works with coworkers in a friendly and cooperative manner. Consistently demonstrates confidentiality and adherence to HIPPA guidelines. Schedules procedures for all of the Endoscopy Rooms, Procedure Rooms and Operating Room Maintains current with surgeon and Gastroenterologist privileges and specialties. Provides input for policies and procedures related to scheduling. Communicates updates and problems timely and accurately to the Scheduling Specialist and/or Manager. Makes recommendations for improvements, enhancements and resolutions. Maintains current with all Policies and Procedures that impact the Scheduling Department. Knowledge of existing software systems within the hospital. Demonstrates proficiency with the scheduling database. Ongoing evaluation of data for validity and integrity. Pursues discrepancies with users. Assists with orientation as needed. Qualifications

Strong knowledge of scheduling and Endoscopy routines Current knowledge of physician privileges Strong oral and writing communication skills Strong organization skills with attention to detail Highly motivated and self-directed Ability to work independently and as a team Ability to communicate positively with customers Demonstrates sound judgment in difficult/sensitive situations. Must be able to sit and type for long periods of time Must be able to use the telephone for long periods of time
