Job Description

Singular Anesthesia Services is a growing medical firm seeking an experienced Front Desk Medical Receptionist for our Kingston Pain Management Office. Experience within the medical or healthcare industry desired. The Prior Authorization & Surgical Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for obtaining insurance authorizations and coordinating surgical procedures to ensure timely and accurate patient care. This role serves as a liaison between patients, providers, insurance companies, and healthcare facilities to streamline the preoperative process
Responsibilities:
Prior Authorization Duties:
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility
  • Obtain prior authorizations for surgical procedures, diagnostic tests, and medications
  • Submit authorization requests with required clinical documentation
  • Follow up with insurance companies to ensure approvals are received in a timely manner
  • Track and document authorization status in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
  • Communicate authorization approvals, denials, or additional requirements to clinical staff and patients
  • Appeal denied authorizations when appropriate
Surgical Scheduling Duties:
  • Schedule surgical procedures in coordination with physicians, patients, and facilities
  • Arrange pre-operative and post-operative appointments
  • Coordinate with hospitals, surgery centers, and anesthesia providers
  • Ensure all required documentation, lab results, and clearances are completed prior to surgery
  • Provide patients with detailed instructions regarding surgery preparation, location, and time
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date surgical calendars
  • Reschedule procedures as needed and communicate changes promptly
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred)
  • 1-3 years of experience in medical scheduling, prior authorization, or healthcare administration
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance processes, and CPT/ICD coding
  • Experience with EMR systems and scheduling software
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines ---
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience working in a surgical specialty (e.g., orthopedics, cardiology, or general surgery)
  • Familiarity with insurance portals and authorization workflows
  • Ability to handle high-volume workload efficiently
  • Problem-solving skills for handling insurance denials and scheduling conflicts
Work Environment:
  • Medical office, hospital, or outpatient surgical center
  • Primarily desk-based with frequent phone and computer use
Total Rewards:
