Job Description

Summary of Position The OR Surgery Scheduler is responsible for the coordination of patient care between the surgeon's office and the hospital. The scheduler must provide excellent customer service and be flexible to meet the needs of the surgeon's office and their patients. The scheduler also works collaboratively with the anesthesia department, the department managers, and the director. The scheduler must have excellent telephone and computer skills. Additionally, the scheduler must be very detail oriented, have medical terminology, and practical critical thinking. Nature and Scope The OR Surgery Scheduler is responsible for scheduling appointments; entering all pertinent financial, scheduling and demographic information into the EPIC system; generating ABN and reviewing orders to ensure compliance. The surgery scheduler will also maintain compliance with regulatory requirements. The OR Surgery Scheduler must demonstrate composure, active listening, superior patient centered service and expert functional/technical skills to achieve the best utilization of time and resources while providing scheduling service for each patient. It is required to efficiently perform all duties while ensuring patient confidentiality and privacy rights. Qualifications 1\. High School Diploma or GED 2\. Clinical Operating Room or other patient care experience is preferred 3\. Three years of scheduling and medical office experience work preferred, or Unit secretary experience on a surgical unit 4\. Polished and professional communication skills, written and oral 5\. Computer operations, including proficiency with Microsoft Office products, required 6\. Minimum typing 30 wpm 7\. Medical terminology required 8\. Must possess exceptional skills in customer relations, quality thinking, productivity, teamwork and knowledge of general hospital services.
