Responsible for assuring the patient is scheduled for the correct procedure at the appropriate time and with the appropriate resources. Responsible for pre-registration of the scheduled patient. Accurate documentation of the patients' medical insurance and required authorizations is required. It is the responsibility of this position to assure that referring office staff and patients receive the highest customer service available as this is often the patient's first impression.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR
LICENSURE
1. High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

EDUCATION:
1. Two (2) years medical secretarial/medical clerical experience.
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for all scheduling and pre-registration functions necessary to maintain efficient and smooth operations of the scheduling function, coordinating the scheduling and ordering of procedures for designated departments based on established guidelines. 2. Schedules services as requested by physician offices or patients, gives preparation for exams and screens for pertinent information prior to scheduling exam. 3. Pre-registers patients in computer system according to the hospital's registration guidelines. 4. Responsible for ascertaining insurance information to comply with managed care regulations or other insurance regulations, performing a revenue cycle review, and referring appropriate patients to Financial Care Consultants. 5. Maintains records according to hospital and regulatory requirements. 9. Maintains confidentiality regarding patient and employee information. 12. Collaborates with physician office staff to maintain effective working relationships and to provide education for new office staff members. 13. Assists in the training and orientation of new staff members. 14. Maintains department equipment. 15. Records and reports equipment malfunctions, including initiating service work orders. 16. Performs other duties as assigned.

1. Possess excellent customer service skills. 2. Strong computer skills; ability to navigate scheduling systems and Microsoft office suite. 3. Ability to maintain/update the computer competencies as required for the position. 4. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
