Job Description

Salem Gastro is looking for a friendly, positive person to join our team, performing clerical duties required for proper patient scheduling and care. Being able to schedule clinic appointments as requested by the physician or physician assistant. We need a caring and capable person to help us continue being an excellent GI office. This position is currently 100% remote unless working conditions change and the need to come into the office is applicable.
The ideal candidate has:
Outstanding customer service with strong verbal and written communication skills. Is professional and caring when dealing with patients. Able to keep their composure when faced with challenging situations. Is punctual. Can work efficiently with minimal supervision, exercising independent judgment within stated guidelines.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Preference is given for:
Excellent working knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. Customer service experience is required. Medical field experience with a minimum of two years if preferred. Centricity or comparable EMR experience. Certified bilingual language abilities. CPR or the equivalent. Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Answer high volume incoming calls. Schedule office appointments following company policy. Verify and or enter patient information, including but no limited to demographics, pharmacy, and insurance. Document appropriately in EMR and registration. Monitor provider schedules for optimum utilization by filling openings. Communicate with providers and staff about any patient concerns. Review and update patient information demographics and insurance. Explain financial requirements and collect payments. Skills and Abilities (including but not limited to): Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are required. Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills which promote cooperation and teamwork. Understanding of HIPPA, OSHA, and other applicable federal and state regulations Ability to withstand varying job pressures and organize/prioritize related job tasks. Excellent public relations skills and demonstrated ability to communicate in a calm, succinct, business-like manner. Ability to deal with people in emergent and/or stressful situations. Ability to identify alternative means of communication as needed. Ability to adapt to change. Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions. Ability to maneuver through several applications including electronic medical records, Microsoft Office applications, different software, website, and databases. Demonstrated understanding of billing, collection, past balances, and deposits.
