Nonprofit Operations & Administrative Coordinator Independent Contractor (1099) | Virtual - Office | Approximately 10 Hours Per Week Bleeding Disorders Association of South Carolina (BDASC) Position Overview The Bleeding Disorders Association of South Carolina (BDASC) is seeking a dependable, organized, and mission-driven Nonprofit Operations & Administrative Coordinator to provide virtual or in office operational and administrative support to the organization. This is a 1099 independent contractor position averaging approximately 10 hours per week . The Coordinator will work closely with the Executive Director to help manage day-to-day administrative responsibilities, program and event logistics, donor and member communications, database management, and other operational needs. The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable working independently in a virtual environment, responsive to deadlines, and able to manage multiple projects while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality. Key Responsibilities Administrative & Organizational Support Provide general administrative and operational support to the Executive Director. Assist with correspondence, scheduling, document preparation, data entry, recordkeeping, meeting minutes, and organizational files. Maintain organized electronic files, forms, contact lists, and program documentation. Assist with meeting preparation, agendas, follow-up items, and other administrative needs. Help track deadlines, projects, registrations, and organizational priorities. Support routine follow-up communications with members, partners, volunteers, and other stakeholders. Programs, Events & Fundraising Assist with planning and coordinating BDASC educational programs, community events, advocacy activities, fundraising events, conferences, and other mission-related initiatives. Support fundraising activities, including charity events, campaigns, sponsorship outreach, donor engagement, raffles, silent auctions, and other fundraising initiatives. Assist with identifying and soliciting potential event sponsors, community partners, in-kind donations, raffle and silent auction items, and other fundraising opportunities. Help prepare and distribute packets, donation request letters, fundraising materials, and follow-up communications. Track sponsorship commitments, donations, in-kind contributions, auction items, and other fundraising-related information and maintain accurate records. Assist with sponsor and donor recognition, acknowledgments, thank-you communications, and fulfillment of sponsorship benefits. Manage event registrations, participant lists, confirmations, event materials, and logistical details. Communicate with attendees, volunteers, venues, vendors, sponsors, donors, and community partners as assigned. Help prepare event materials, name badges, signage, handouts, evaluations, sponsor recognition materials, and other resources. Provide administrative and logistical support for fundraising events, including BDASC's annual fundraising campaigns and special events. Assist with post-event follow-up, donation reconciliation, data entry, documentation, evaluation, and reporting. Work collaboratively with the Executive Director to help meet fundraising goals and identify opportunities to strengthen donor, sponsor, and community relationships. Communications & Data Management Assist with email communications, newsletters, event announcements, and other organizational outreach. Update contact information, mailing lists, program records, registration data, and databases. Help maintain accurate information for programs, events, donors, sponsors, volunteers, and community members. Assist with basic website or online event updates when needed. Support collection and organization of program participation and impact data for organizational reporting. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, business administration, communications, public relations, human services, or a related field preferred. Relevant professional experience may be considered in place of formal post-secondary education. Strong organizational, administrative, and time-management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and effectively manage responsibilities in a virtual work environment. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through. Ability to prioritize multiple assignments, manage competing deadlines, and adapt to changing organizational needs. Experience with nonprofit organizations, administrative coordination, program and event planning, fundraising, donor relations, or community-based organizations preferred. Experience supporting fundraising activities, sponsorship outreach, donor communications, or special events is a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Zoom, online registration systems, databases, and other web-based platforms; experience with Canva or other graphic design tools is a plus. Ability and willingness to learn new technology, software, and organizational systems. Professional judgment, discretion, and the ability to appropriately handle confidential or sensitive organizational information. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate professionally with community members, volunteers, donors, sponsors, healthcare professionals, vendors, and organizational partners. Experience with legislative affairs, public policy, or advocacy is a plus. A collaborative, service-oriented approach and commitment to supporting BDASC's mission and the bleeding disorders community. Schedule & Contractor Status Independent Contractor (1099) Approximately up to 10 hours per week Primarily virtual/remote / In Office as needed, if available Flexible scheduling based on organizational needs and agreed upon deadlines Some availability during normal business hours may be needed for meetings, communications, and time-sensitive projects. Occasional additional hours or in-person support for major BDASC programs or events may be requested and mutually agreed upon in advance. About BDASC The Bleeding Disorders Association of South Carolina (BDASC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals and families affected by hemophilia, von Willebrand disease, and other rare bleeding disorders throughout South Carolina. Through education, advocacy, support services, community programming, financial assistance, camps, conferences, and other initiatives, BDASC works to ensure that individuals living with bleeding disorders have access to the information, resources, treatment, care, and community support they need. What Success Looks Like The Nonprofit Operations & Administrative Coordinator will help create greater efficiency across the organization by ensuring that administrative responsibilities are completed accurately and on time, communications and records remain organized, events and programs are well supported, and important follow-up does not fall through the cracks. This position is an important behind-the-scenes partner in helping BDASC operate effectively and allowing organizational leadership to dedicate more time to mission-driven programs, advocacy, fundraising, partnerships, and direct community support. Overall Goal The goal of the first 90 days is for the Coordinator to become a trusted operational resource who can take ownership of routine administrative responsibilities, improve organization and follow-through, and create additional capacity for the Executive Director to focus on leadership, fundraising, advocacy, partnerships, and serving the bleeding disorders community. Compensation $19.50-$22.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a 1099 independent contractor position averaging approximately 10 hours per week . The final hourly rate will be determined based on the candidate's experience and demonstrated skills, particularly in nonprofit operations, programs and events, fundraising, communications, database management, and legislative or advocacy work. The contractor is responsible for applicable self-employment taxes and is not eligible for employee benefits.
