Job Description

Overview Join Williamsburg County Transit System as a Dispatcher/Scheduler and become the vital link that keeps our transportation operations running smoothly and efficiently in this energetic role. This position will require the performance of a variety of technical, administrative, and customer service duties related to scheduling, dispatching, and coordinating public transit services. Responsibilities Receives transportation requests by telephone, in person, email, or other approved communication methods. Schedules passenger trips using the agency's scheduling and dispatching software in accordance with established service policies, priorities, and eligibility requirements. Coordinates daily bus operator assignments and vehicle schedules to maximize efficiency while maintaining quality customer service. Dispatches bus operators throughout the day and provides updated routing information as schedule changes occur. Monitors bus operators' locations, route progress, on time performance, and service completion. Assist bus operators with route adjustments, passenger concerns, traffic delays, road closures, vehicle issues, weather conditions, and other operational matters. Monitors vehicle availability and coordinates replacements when maintenance issues arise. Immediately reports accidents, incidents, passenger complaints, emergencies, or operational concerns to the Transit Director. Maintains daily dispatch logs, communication records, trip changes, and operational documentation. Maintains the confidentiality of passenger information in accordance with HIPAA, ADA, and applicable regulations. Participates in emergency preparedness activities and continuity of operations as assigned. Coordinates emergency transportation adjustments during inclement weather, vehicle breakdowns, staffing shortages, or other service disruptions. Requirements High School diploma or general education degree (GED). Two (2) years of customer service, dispatching, scheduling, transportation, logistics, emergency communication or related experience preferred. Experience using computerized scheduling or dispatch software preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Proven experience in transportation planning, dispatching, or logistics coordination within a road transportation environment. Must be able to operate a computer and be familiar with Microsoft Office. Must be able to generate and interpret spreadsheets and computer printouts. Must have general basic geography of Williamsburg County and the surroundings areas.

$14.00 per hour
