Job Description

Master Production Scheduler at Hirewell Master Production Scheduler at Hirewell in Waco, Texas Posted in 36 minutes ago.

Type:

full-time We are seeking an experienced Master Scheduler and planning leader to own the master production scheduling function within a complex manufacturing environment. This role will lead a small team of Production Planners/Schedulers while taking end-to-end ownership of the planning process, translating customer demand into an achievable production plan across materials, labor, equipment, and capacity. This is not solely an execution-level scheduling role. We are looking for someone who can lead a planning team, think strategically about future demand and capacity, challenge the status quo, and drive improvements to the overall planning and scheduling process. What You'll Do Own and lead the Master Production Schedule (MPS), balancing demand, capacity, materials, lead times, and customer commitments. Lead, coach, and develop a team of 2-3 Production Planners/Schedulers, providing direction, accountability, and planning priorities. Translate forecasts, customer orders, and production requirements into achievable short- and mid-term manufacturing plans. Evaluate future capacity requirements and identify gaps in labor, equipment, materials, or production capabilities before they impact customer delivery. Recommend and influence decisions around overtime, shifts, production sequencing, outsourcing, capacity expansion, and other actions needed to meet demand. Identify scheduling conflicts, material shortages, production bottlenecks, and other risks, developing solutions rather than simply escalating issues. Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Materials, Sales, and senior leadership to align production plans with business priorities. Lead improvements to scheduling processes, planning cadence, ERP/MRP accuracy, and overall schedule performance. Track and improve KPIs such as schedule attainment, on-time delivery, production attainment, throughput, and capacity utilization. Maintain accurate planning data within ERP/MRP systems and ensure the planning team is working from reliable information. What We're Looking For Significant experience in master scheduling, production planning, or manufacturing planning, with demonstrated ownership of the planning function. Proven people leadership experience, ideally managing and developing Production Planners, Schedulers, or similar manufacturing teams. Strong understanding of MPS, MRP, capacity planning, material planning, production constraints, and multi-level BOMs. Experience in a complex manufacturing environment, ideally high-mix/low-volume, make-to-order, engineered-to-order, or custom manufacturing. Demonstrated ability to look beyond today's schedule and make forward-looking capacity and production decisions. Experience building, improving, or transforming planning and scheduling processes rather than simply maintaining an established schedule. Strong ERP/MRP experience; SAP, Oracle, or similar manufacturing systems preferred. Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and communicate planning risks and recommendations to senior leadership. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Ideal Background We are particularly interested in candidates who have progressed into planning leadership and have experience owning both the people and process behind production planning. Relevant backgrounds may include Master Scheduler, Senior Master Scheduler, Production Planning Manager, Scheduling Manager, Manufacturing Planning Manager, Materials Planning Manager, SIOP/S&OP Manager, or Supply Chain Planning Manager. Experience within electrical equipment, industrial machinery, capital equipment, aerospace, automation, engineered products, or other complex manufacturing environments is especially relevant.
