Job Description
Description Job Summary Advanced Pain Care is hiring a surgery scheduler to float between our Waco and Groesbeck clinic locations. The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for all aspects of the surgical scheduling process, including surgeries, in-office procedures, follow up appointments and appropriate medical clearance. Duties and Responsibilities Schedules patients for surgery and completes necessary paperwork Confirms patient demographics , surgery date and time and medical diagnosis Reviews instructions with patients prior to surgeries, including medications, allergies, labs, health history, pre-op and post-op treatment plans Gathers insurance information to confirm coverage and benefits Ensures all paperwork is complete and on file for patients' surgeries, including consent forms Answers and responds to all incoming telephone inquiries regarding surgery Schedules patients for follow-up appointments and other health assessments Monitors surgery schedule and works directly with physicians to coordinate appointments Coordinates medical clearance when necessary Has regular and predictable attendance Adheres to all Advanced Pain Care policies and procedures Completes other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Clear and precise communication Accuracy and attention to detail Effectively manages day by organizing and prioritizing Applies tactful principles and practices of dealing with the public Practices safety habits Protects patient information and maintains confidentiality Knowledge of general medical terminology, CPT codes, medical insurance and managed care Knowledge of insurance verification and surgical procedures Computer and EMR knowledge Strong written and verbal communication skills Excellent interpersonal/customer service skills High degree of professionalism, tact and diplomacy Works independently Requirements Qualifications Requires a high school diploma or equivalent; one year of prior surgery scheduling experience in a healthcare setting highly preferred. Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records, insurance verification, medical terminology and surgical procedures. Outstanding customer service and communication skills a must.
