Job Description

Urban Manufacturing (est. 1978) is an industry leader in precision CNC contract machining and is still proudly family-owned and operated. We specialize in precision CNC machining, contract manufacturing, and engineered components. We serve highly critical, quality-sensitive industries, including aerospace, medical equipment, and power distribution. Our growth is built on a simple foundation: dedication to our employees. We strive to invest in our team, ensure everyone feels valued, and provide a genuine work-life balance. We are seeking an experienced Scheduler / Planner to support our production operations in a CNC machining and metal manufacturing environment. Position Summary In this role, you will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining accurate production schedules, optimizing shop workflows, and ensuring the on-time delivery of customer orders. The ideal candidate balances production capacity with changing priorities in a fast-paced environment and possesses strong technical knowledge of metal manufacturing processes. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain daily/weekly production schedules for CNC machining and metal manufacturing operations based on forecasts, customer demand, and machine availability. Actively utilize the Epicor ERP/MRP system to plan, release, monitor manufacturing orders, and maintain accurate data (lead times, routing steps, and scheduling parameters). Collaborate closely with operations, purchasing, engineering, and quality teams to align production priorities and ensure material availability. Analyze machine utilization, labor availability, and capacity constraints to optimize throughput and mitigate bottlenecks. Partner with Operations Leads and shop floor supervisors to clearly communicate schedule updates, machine downtime adjustments, or priority shifts. Assist in monitoring KPIs including on-time delivery (OTD), operational efficiencies, and schedule adherence. Support ongoing lean and continuous improvement initiatives related to planning workflows. Qualifications & Experience 4+ years of production planning or scheduling experience specifically within a CNC machining or metal manufacturing environment. 1 -3+ years of Epicor experience (MRP, Job Scheduling dashboards) Bachelor's, or associate degree in supply chain, Manufacturing, Operations, or related field. In lieu of a degree, 10+ years of proven experience in production planning, scheduling, or shop management will be considered. Strong, hands-on working knowledge of Epicor ERP for production scheduling and order management is highly preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required. Solid understanding of metal manufacturing and CNC machining processes (cutting, forming, welding, machining, finishing, etc.) and managing schedules across multiple complex work centers. Strong analytical problem-solving skills, exceptional organization, and the ability to communicate seamlessly with both shop floor personnel and executive management. Why Join the Urban Team? We believe in taking care of the people who take care of our customers.
