Position Summary:

The Shipping Clerk / Scale Operator plays a vital role in the daily operations of our potato farming company by accurately weighing and documenting all inbound and outbound shipments, coordinating logistics, and ensuring timely and efficient shipping processes. This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced agricultural environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate truck scales to weigh inbound and outbound loads of potatoes. Accurately document weights, quantities, and product types using scale software and shipping logs. Prepare shipping documents including bills of lading, load sheets, and delivery receipts. Communicate with drivers, logistics providers, and internal departments to coordinate pickups and deliveries. Ensure all shipments meet quality, labeling, and compliance standards. Maintain organized records of all shipping and receiving transactions. Monitor inventory levels and assist with inventory counts as needed. Perform basic data entry and generate shipping reports. Follow all safety procedures and company policies related to food handling, equipment operations, and recordkeeping.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. Prior experience in agriculture, logistics, or shipping preferred. Familiarity with scale software and basic computer applications (Microsoft Office, email). Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Work Environment:

This role operates in both indoor (office) and outdoor environments, including exposure to seasonal weather conditions. Protective gear and adherence to safety protocols are required during operations.

Schedule:

Hours may vary depending on harvest season and shipping demand. Overtime and weekend work may be required during peak season.
