Hamar Laser Instruments, a world-class manufacturer of high-precision laser alignment and metrology systems since 1967, is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Shipping and Receiving Clerk to join our team in Danbury, Connecticut. We specialize in advanced, American-made laser technology serving industries worldwide, including aerospace, automotive, power generation, and more. Job Summary The Shipping and Receiving Clerk will be responsible for managing all incoming and outgoing shipments with a high level of accuracy. This includes checking in repair returns, preparing and shipping customer orders (both domestic and international), maintaining detailed logs of all packages and materials, and providing occasional assembly support as needed. This role requires strict adherence to shipping regulations, especially for international shipments, and contributes directly to our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities Receive and inspect incoming shipments, including repair returns; verify contents against packing lists, purchase orders, or repair documentation; document any discrepancies or damages. Check in repaired items and coordinate with internal teams as needed. Prepare outgoing shipments, including customer orders, domestic packages, and international exports. Handle all aspects of international shipping, including preparing required documentation (e.g., commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and export declarations). Select appropriate carriers and shipping methods to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery. Log all incoming and outgoing packages accurately in our system, maintaining up-to-date records for inventory and tracking. Package items securely to prevent damage during transit, applying proper labels and markings. Perform light assembly tasks on precision components or products as needed (not a daily responsibility). Operate basic warehouse equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, scales) and maintain a clean, organized shipping/receiving area. Assist with inventory counts and other logistics support as required. Communicate effectively with carriers, customers, and internal staff to resolve any shipping issues. Required Qualifications Proven experience with international shipping is required (including familiarity with export documentation, customs requirements, and international carriers). Previous experience in shipping/receiving, warehouse, or logistics roles. Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Proficiency with computers (email, spreadsheets, and basic shipping software/systems). Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods. Reliable, team-oriented, and able to work independently. High school diploma or equivalent; additional logistics/shipping certification is a plus.
Pay:
$20.00 - $25.00 per hour
