Job Description
Role Overview Based at our Clearwater, Florida site, the Shipping Manager Assistant works alongside the Shipping Manager to oversee daily outbound logistics. You will be instrumental in ensuring that our industrial equipment, components, and finished goods are properly packed, documented, and dispatched to our distribution partners and clients on schedule. We are looking for an organized, detail-focused individual who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. Shipping & Order Fulfillment Help prepare and process outbound freight, such as soft starters and motor controls, by constructing custom crates and boxing items. Ensure shipment accuracy by verifying outbound orders against sales orders, Bills of Materials, and packing lists. Manage carrier relations for LTL, FTL, parcel, and international shipments to guarantee timely arrivals. Create essential shipping paperwork, including commercial invoices, bills of lading, export documents, and packing slips. Improve shipping efficiency by applying labels and ensuring all goods are correctly marked and crated for transit. Monitor active shipments to provide proactive updates to customers and internal departments. Warehouse & Inventory Support Maintain a clean and orderly staging area that adheres to 5S organizational standards. Assist with physical inventory audits and cycle counts. Collaborate with warehouse and production staff to ensure finished goods are staged for departure. Manage the processing of return merchandise authorizations and facilitate return logistics. Documentation & Systems Maintain accurate shipment records within our ERP/WMS software. Organize and store freight invoices, carrier contracts, and shipping documentation. Help resolve damaged or lost shipment issues by preparing freight claims and following up with carriers. Ensure all shipping activities remain compliant with hazardous materials and export regulations. Team & Administrative Support Support the Traffic and Shipping Managers with daily prioritization and workload scheduling. Facilitate communication between sales, customer service, and production regarding urgent orders and status updates. Provide backup for receiving operations during high-volume periods or when staffing is limited. Help maintain a safe working environment for the entire team by strictly following all facility procedures and PPE guidelines. Qualifications Required High school diploma, GED, or equivalent professional experience. One to three years of logistics, warehouse, or shipping experience, ideally within an industrial or manufacturing setting. Knowledge of standard freight documentation, such as packing slips, commercial invoices, and bills of lading. Basic computer literacy for data entry; prior experience with WMS or ERP systems is preferred. Demonstrate high accuracy and attention to detail to ensure error-free shipments. Ability to stand or walk for long shifts and lift up to 50 lbs. consistently. A dependable, team-focused mindset with a strong desire to learn. Preferred Experience utilizing shipping platforms and working with LTL, FTL, parcel, and international carriers. Knowledge of hazardous materials shipping or export compliance standards. Possession of a forklift certification or the willingness to earn one upon starting. Background in industrial automation, motor controls, or electronics manufacturing. Compensation & Benefits This role is a temp-to-hire opportunity with a starting pay rate of $22.00 to $26.00 per hour, based on your qualifications. The schedule is a day shift with the potential for overtime as needed. Expect to work in a standard manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels and active machinery. This is an on-site role.
