Shipping and Receiving Specialist Job Description The Shipping and Receiving Specialist plays a key role in ensuring accurate, efficient, and safe handling of all incoming and outgoing materials. This position focuses on completing receiving documentation, coordinating shipments and outside services, supporting inventory control, and operating forklifts and related equipment to move materials between facilities and production areas. Responsibilities Accurately complete receiving paperwork for all daily deliveries, including raw material deliveries, outside services deliveries, and MRO/small parcel deliveries. Sign and scan receiving paperwork to attach documentation to receipts in the Plex system, ensuring complete and accurate records. Prepare outside service paperwork with precision and ship materials on daily trucks according to established schedules. Assist Purchasing and Quality teams with raw material returns and rework product shipments to outside vendors, following established procedures. Support the movement of product between company plants, ensuring timely and accurate transfer of materials. Operate sit-down forklift or hi-lo equipment to perform material handling tasks, including unloading and loading shipments for daily trucks. Stage product for upcoming shifts to ensure production areas have the necessary materials available and organized. Unload returnable dunnage as required and place it in designated areas to maintain an orderly workspace. Minimize errors that could cause customer concerns by carefully double-checking quantities, labels, and packaging integrity before shipment or storage. Reweigh raw materials as needed to verify quantities and maintain accurate inventory records. Promptly communicate any damaged product, equipment issues (including hi-lo concerns), or safety hazards to a supervisor or appropriate facility leader. Support part and raw material cycle count activities to maintain accurate inventory levels and reconcile discrepancies. Use RF scanners and data entry tools to record inventory movements, receipts, and shipments with a high level of accuracy. Follow all safety procedures and material handling guidelines while operating forklifts and performing shipping and receiving tasks. Essential Skills Minimum of 2 years of shipping and receiving experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution environment. Minimum of 1 year of experience operating a sit-down forklift or hi-lo for material handling tasks. Proven ability to accurately complete shipping and receiving documentation and maintain organized records. Experience using RF scanners for inventory tracking and verification. Strong data entry skills with attention to detail when recording receipts, shipments, and inventory movements. Ability to safely load and unload trucks and handle various types of materials and packaging. Demonstrated commitment to minimizing errors by verifying quantities, labels, and packaging integrity. Effective communication skills to report damaged product, equipment issues, and safety concerns to supervisors or facility leadership. Capability to support cycle counts and basic inventory control activities. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with inventory systems, such as Plex or similar ERP software, is beneficial. Background in supporting Purchasing and Quality teams with material returns and rework processes is an advantage. Familiarity with handling raw materials, outside services deliveries, and MRO/small parcel shipments. Ability to coordinate product transfers between multiple plant locations. Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with daily truck schedules and shift-based staging requirements. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Holland, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
