Job Description

Scope:
The shipping clerk is responsible for the organization and maintenance of inventory in the shipping warehouse. The shipping clerk is also responsible for coordinating all shipping and receiving activities to comply with warehouse operations and capacities. The shipping clerk is involved in all inventories and inventory related matters. Start earning vacation time on day one!
Duties and Responsibilities:
Has met all the initial orientation requirements: Safety Orientation Training Others as required Follow all company safety procedures while on company premises or operating company equipment Operate powered industrial forklift and other material handling equipment to transport inventory, unload incoming stock and load orders Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition (5S) Verifies and keeps records on outgoing/incoming shipments Perform shipping and receiving duties Pulls, prepares and stages items for shipment Verifies identifying information, counts, weights or measures Configures items on pallets for LTL/Parcel shipments and ensures shipment meets specifications Affixes shipping labels, packing slips, or other required shipping information on packages Determines method of shipments utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates or as specified on the customer's purchase order Make arrangements for pick-up by the carrier specified on the customers purchase order, customer routing guide or company procedures Must be able to fill out bills of lading and be familiar with various forms that are used and required by the major freight carriers Experience with UPS/FEDEX/Common Carrier/Amazon online software is desirable Report defective materials of questionable conditions to supervisor Assist receiving clerk and verify accuracy of incoming shipments Receive product from Production, sort and place materials on racks, shelves or in bins. Mark materials with identifying information Recording and maintaining inventory of all goods and materials in warehouse Perform cycle counts Transact inventory movements using inventory control systems Keep an adequate supply of shipping materials on hand at all times Carry out any other tasks as assigned by the warehouse supervisor/manager
Requirements:
Excellent safety record Excellent communication skills, verbal, written and electronic Excellent attendance record Multi-tasking skills Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision alone or with other employees High attention to details Proficient in the use of PC with emphasis on MS Excel, Word and Outlook and web-based applications General warehouse, shipping and receiving experience a plus Participation in inventories as required Must be able to traverse from location to location, remain stationary, move up to 50 lbs., retrieve or move objects to or away from body, access different levels of the building.
