Job Title:
Shipping and Receiving Associate Job Description This role focuses on shipping and receiving, including placing bags into boxes, checking the quality of bags, and preparing boxed products for shipment. The position supports smooth warehouse and manufacturing operations by handling materials accurately, maintaining inventory control, and following safety and confidentiality standards. This is an individual contributor role with no leadership responsibilities and is well suited for a self-motivated professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Receive incoming bags and materials and ensure they are accurately logged and stored according to established procedures. Inspect bags for quality, checking for defects or damage before packaging and shipment. Place bags into boxes in an organized and efficient manner, ensuring correct counts and proper packaging. Prepare boxes for shipment by labeling, sealing, and staging them in the appropriate shipping area. Support inventory control activities, including basic inventory tracking and participation in cycle counts. Handle materials and products safely, including lifting and moving boxes as required. Follow all shipping and receiving procedures to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment. Maintain strict confidentiality and protect the privacy of confidential or sensitive information encountered in the role. Communicate effectively with staff, leadership, and internal or external contacts to coordinate shipments and resolve issues. Manage time efficiently by organizing tasks, setting priorities, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Identify problems or process issues in shipping, receiving, or packaging and propose practical solutions or options. Consistently follow safety guidelines and use required personal protective equipment while working in the warehouse or manufacturing area. Essential Skills Experience or familiarity with shipping and receiving processes. Ability to perform inventory control activities, including basic record keeping and cycle counts. Skill in packaging products, including placing bags into boxes and preparing them for shipment. Capability to handle materials safely, including lifting and moving boxes. Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and prioritize to meet deadlines. Effective communication skills in verbal and written formats, including the ability to interact with leadership, staff, and internal and external contacts. Ability to exercise sound judgment and proactive decision-making when identifying problems and needs. Self-confidence and self-motivation, with the ability to work independently in a challenging, fast-paced environment. Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality and protecting sensitive information. Qualification as skilled labor with no experience required; 1-2 years of related experience preferred. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience in inventory control or warehouse operations is preferred. Experience with cycle counts and basic inventory tracking is beneficial. Familiarity with material handling equipment and safe lifting practices is an advantage. Comfort working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and workflow in a fast-paced setting. Work Environment This position operates primarily in a manufacturing or warehouse environment. The role requires the use of personal protective equipment such as hearing protection, safety shoes, vision protection, and other PPE as needed. The work involves material handling and lifting boxes, and you should be comfortable performing physical tasks throughout your shift while adhering to all safety and facility guidelines. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Walden, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
