Job description: OSI Plastics, a division of Ohio Steel Industries, is seeking an experienced Shipping and Receiving Operator to oversee shipping and receiving operations at our Delaware, OH facility. This position will be responsible for managing the daily activities of the shipping and receiving team, ensuring shipments and incoming materials are processed efficiently and accurately, maintaining inventory accuracy, and coordinating transportation and material flow. The successful candidate will provide leadership to the team while ensuring a safe, organized, and productive work environment. Why You'll Love Working With Us In addition to competitive pay and comprehensive benefits, we offer: Weekly pay Group insurance benefits Profit-sharing plan Opportunities for continued skills development What You'll Do Oversee all shipping and receiving operations, including loading and unloading rail cars, managing truck shipments, and coordinating with internal teams to ensure the timely movement of goods and materials. Maintain accurate inventory records by conducting regular physical counts, investigating discrepancies, and ensuring necessary adjustments are completed. Coordinate with external vendors, including rail carriers and trucking companies, to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation of goods while addressing any issues or delays. Lead and support the shipping and receiving needs, completing daily responsibilities and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and accurately. Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations. Address safety concerns and implement corrective actions as needed. Monitor and report shipping and receiving metrics, including on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, productivity, and operational efficiency. Manage and maintain equipment used in shipping and receiving operations, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulations related to shipping, receiving, inventory control, and material handling. Collaborate with production, purchasing, logistics, and other departments to optimize material flow throughout the facility. Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce delays, and improve overall shipping and receiving operations. Maintain a clean, organized, and productive shipping and receiving area. Support team members to promote accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement. Shift Schedule The regularly scheduled hours are Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. This schedule is subject to change based on business needs. What We're Looking For 1+ year of experience in shipping and receiving, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Experience with bills of lading, shipping/receiving documentation, and inventory control. Forklift and material handling experience preferred. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and lead a team. Knowledge of workplace safety practices and procedures. Ability to work flexible hours as needed Physical Requirements This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling throughout the workday. Candidates must be able to perform the physical requirements of a manufacturing environment, including lifting materials and working around machinery, welding equipment, noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
