Job Title:
Shipping and Receiving Clerk Job Description The Shipping and Receiving Clerk plays a key role in ensuring that customer orders are picked, packed, and shipped accurately and on time. This position supports daily warehouse and distribution operations by handling products, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to a clean, safe, and efficient work environment. Responsibilities Accurately pick products from inventory based on order requirements using handheld scanners or warehouse management systems. Verify item numbers, quantities, and locations to ensure correct order fulfillment. Safely and securely pack products to prevent damage during transit, following established packing standards. Label packages correctly with all required information and prepare them for shipment. Load and unload trucks, ensuring shipments are processed accurately and on schedule. Verify shipping documents, including packing lists and shipping labels, and maintain accurate records of outgoing and incoming shipments. Assist with general warehouse duties, including organizing stock, replenishing inventory, and staging orders. Participate in regular inventory counts and help identify discrepancies or stock issues. Operate material handling equipment, such as pallet jacks or forklifts, if trained and authorized. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including aisles, storage locations, and packing stations. Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines, including proper lifting techniques and equipment use. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet productivity targets and shipping deadlines. Report any damaged products, equipment issues, or safety hazards promptly. Essential Skills Experience with order picking and packing in a warehouse or distribution environment is an asset, but not required. Ability to use RF (radio frequency) scanners or similar handheld scanning devices to locate and track inventory. Basic computer skills to interact with warehouse management systems or shipping software. Ability to lift, carry, and move packages up to 50 lbs safely and repeatedly. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when selecting, packing, and labeling products. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and consistently meet deadlines. Capability to perform material handling tasks such as loading, unloading, and moving products. Willingness to follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous warehouse or distribution experience is preferred but not mandatory. Experience using RF scanners for picking and inventory management. Exposure to packing operations and shipping processes. Familiarity with forklift operation or other powered industrial trucks is an advantage, if properly trained and certified according to local regulations.
