Job Description

Role Summary The Shipping Clerk supports shipping, receiving, warehouse, cold storage inventory, pull-up, merchandising, and related operational activities associated with a Blue Bell Creameries branch. This role assists with product movement, loading and unloading activities, shipping documentation, transport intake coordination, inventory support, merchandising support, and general housekeeping within the shipping, warehouse, and sales support areas. The Shipping Associate works closely with branch personnel and internal departments to support efficient loading procedures, accurate product handling, organized product displays, and overall branch operational performance. Key Responsibilities Assist with loading, unloading, and moving products to support shipping and receiving activities. Prepare, process, and maintain shipping, receiving, and inventory records, reports, and related documentation accurately and on time. Coordinate transport intake and assist with scheduling inbound and outbound shipping activities. Support cold storage inventory activities, including product rotation, stock checks, and inventory accuracy. Support efficient and timely loading procedures by preparing paperwork and coordinating with shipping and warehouse personnel. Perform assigned pull-up and merchandising duties, including stocking, rotating, facing, arranging, and maintaining product in warehouse, display, sales, or customer-facing areas. Perform administrative and office duties, including filing, data entry, and submitting required reports. Maintain cleanliness and organization in shipping, warehouse, and work areas and report facility, equipment, or inventory concerns to the appropriate supervisor. Follow company policies, safety procedures, and operational standards throughout shipping and warehouse activities. Work cooperatively with branch personnel and internal departments to support product flow and branch operations. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Working knowledge of shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, inventory control, and product handling preferred. Ability to support pull-up and merchandising activities while maintaining product rotation, organization, and presentation standards. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to complete tasks accurately and efficiently. Ability to follow instructions, work independently when needed, and contribute to a team-oriented environment. Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with branch personnel and internal departments. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to use company systems, reports, and communication tools as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, inventory control, or a related operational role preferred. Basic computer skills and experience with data entry, recordkeeping, or operational documentation preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced shipping and warehouse environment. Valid driver's license is required if assigned to perform pull-up duties in sales field. Demonstrated ability to support shipping processes, maintain accurate records, and work effectively as part of a team.
Physical Requirements Mobility:
Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping, and movement throughout warehouse, shipping, receiving, refrigerated, and display areas.
Manual Dexterity:
Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle product, shipping materials, paperwork, and standard office or communication equipment.
Lifting and Material Handling:
Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and maneuver product, cases, carts, racks, shipping supplies, and merchandising materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
Pull-Up and Merchandising:
Must be able to stock, rotate, face, arrange, and maintain product in warehouse, storage, display, and sales areas, including reaching various shelf heights and repositioning product as needed.
Vision:
Requires near and distance vision sufficient to read shipping documents, inventory records, labels, and monitor product handling activities.
Communication:
Must be able to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through electronic communication with employees and internal departments, and exchange accurate information in a timely manner.
Environmental Conditions:
May be exposed to refrigerated or freezer areas, warehouse conditions, loading docks, and varying temperatures during shipping and receiving activities. Work Environment This position operates in offices, warehouses, shipping dock, refrigerated storage, branch, and assigned sales location environments. The role routinely uses standard office equipment, company systems, mobile devices, and communication tools. Regular interaction with branch personnel and internal departments is required. Pull-up and merchandising duties may occur in customer-facing spaces, product display areas, refrigerated or freezer areas, and other assigned product storage or presentation locations. Work environment subject to change based on business needs and assigned duties.
