Job Description Job Title:
Shipping / Export Clerk Position Summary (Objective) The Shipping / Export Clerk is responsible for supporting daily shipping and export operations by ensuring orders, shipping tickets, export documentation, inspections, and product movements are coordinated accurately and on time. This position requires a dependable, bilingual, organized, and motivated individual who communicates effectively with drivers, shipping personnel, inspectors, office staff, and other departments. The Shipping / Export Clerk plays an important role in keeping daily shipping operations organized and ensuring export orders are prepared accurately and on time. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform all job duties in a safe manner. Answer and communicate by phone and radio with drivers, shipping personnel, and other departments. Adjust, update, and help locate shipping tickets as needed. Schedule and coordinate export orders, including communicating ETAs and inspection requirements. Prepare and organize all required export documentation. Ensure export paperwork is accurate and completed before shipments leave. Prepare and apply required stickers and labels to export boxes after inspection. Help plan and organize where product and packed boxes will be stored and moved. Coordinate with forklift drivers and shipping personnel to ensure product is staged and moved to the correct location. Keep shipping tickets, export documents, and other records organized. Communicate changes in schedules, inspections, loads, and product locations to the appropriate employees. Assist the shipping department with other duties as needed. Education & Experience High school diploma or GED required. Two (2) years of experience in shipping, receiving, logistics, warehousing, export documentation, or a related environment preferred. Basic computer and data-entry skills required. Experience working with shipping or export documentation preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced shipping environment. Dependable and able to work effectively with a team and members of the public who may enter the shipping area. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Comfortable communicating by phone and radio. Ability to prioritize duties when several loads or inspections are happening at the same time. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification. Language Skills Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English and Spanish. Bilingual English/Spanish is required to effectively communicate with employees, drivers, and other members of the shipping team. Ability to read and understand shipping documents, export documentation, safety procedures, and work instructions is required. Supervisory Responsibility This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but is expected to coordinate and communicate effectively with shipping personnel, forklift drivers, truck drivers, inspectors, and other departments to support daily shipping and export operations. Work Environment The Shipping / Export Clerk generally works in a shipping, warehouse, and office environment. This role routinely works around forklifts, trucks, loading areas, packed product, and other shipping and warehouse equipment. Exposure to varying temperatures, noise, dust, and other conditions associated with a shipping and warehouse environment is expected. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times as required by company policy. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a seasonal, full-time position with the potential to transition to regular full-time employment following successful completion of a 90-day probationary period, based on performance, attendance, business needs, and company approval. Employees are expected to work on-site during scheduled shipping and production hours. Overtime, weekends, holidays, and schedule changes may be required based on shipping schedules and business needs. Travel This position may require occasional local travel for training or company meetings. Overnight travel is generally not required. Additional Eligibility Qualifications Ability to safely work in and around an active shipping and warehouse environment. Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification as required by the company. Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced team environment. Ability to effectively prioritize and coordinate multiple shipping activities at the same time. Work Authorization/Security Clearance Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
