Role:

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Assistant Cold Storage Warehouse Manager to support all aspects of daily operations at our temperature-controlled distribution facility in Vernon, CA. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, food-safety-driven environment and is ready to take the next step into warehouse leadership. You'll work closely with the Warehouse Manager across every function of the warehouse — receiving, storage, order fulfillment, shipping, and staff supervision — while also taking ownership of our SQF (Safe Quality Food) compliance program to ensure our facility consistently meets certification and audit standards.

What You'll Do:

• Assist in all aspects of daily warehouse operations, including receiving, put-away, inventory rotation (FIFO), order picking, shipping, and general facility management.
• Own and manage the facility's SQF (Safe Quality Food) compliance program , including maintaining documentation, conducting internal audits, and driving corrective actions.
• Lead preparation for SQF certification audits and serve as a key point of contact for auditors and regulatory inspectors.
• Monitor and log temperature control procedures and cold chain integrity to ensure compliance with food safety standards (SQF, HACCP, FDA, USDA as applicable).
• Train staff in food safety and SQF procedures, ensuring ongoing compliance at every level of the operation.
• Support import inspections and coordinate with USDA.
• Ensure the facility passes internal and external food safety audits and inspections.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with cycle counts and periodic physical inventories.
• Enforce safety protocols for cold/freezer environments, forklift operation, and general warehouse safety.
• Identify process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce shrinkage, and improve order accuracy.
• Support hiring, onboarding, and performance management of warehouse associates.
• Supervise, train, and stepping in to lead the floor in the Warehouse Manager's absence.

What We're Looking For:

• 2+ years of warehouse supervisory or lead experience, ideally in cold storage, frozen food, or perishables distribution.
• Prior experience managing or supporting an SQF compliance program strongly preferred; SQF Practitioner certification a plus (or willingness to obtain).
• Comfortable working in refrigerated and freezer environments (temperatures as low as 0°F) for extended periods.
• Working knowledge of food safety and cold chain compliance standards (SQF, HACCP, FIFO, USDA/FDA guidelines).
• Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory tracking software.
• Forklift and ride on jack certification preferred, or willingness to obtain certification.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand/walk for extended periods.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus, given our diverse team.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain, or related field a plus.

Compensation & Benefits:
