Job Description
Warehouse Manager
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Warehouse Manager to oversee daily warehouse operations, inventory management, product organization, and the efficient movement of materials throughout the facility. This position will have a strong focus on inventory accuracy, warehouse slot management, space utilization, and operational efficiency. This role sits onsite Monday-Friday with occasional Saturdays, regular business hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all daily warehouse operations including receiving, put away, storage, picking, staging, and shipping
- Manage and maintain accurate inventory levels throughout the warehouse
- Develop and maintain effective warehouse slotting strategies based on product velocity, size, weight, demand, and operational requirements
- Regularly evaluate and adjust warehouse locations to maximize space utilization and improve picking efficiency
- Establish and maintain organized inventory locations and ensure products are stored appropriately
- Monitor inventory accuracy and investigate discrepancies between physical inventory and system records
- Oversee cycle counting programs, physical inventories, and inventory reconciliation processes
- Identify root causes of inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions
- Ensure all inventory transactions are accurately recorded within the warehouse management or inventory system
- Monitor receiving processes to ensure incoming inventory is properly counted, inspected, labeled, and put away
- Oversee order fulfillment, picking, packing, staging, and shipping activities
- Establish warehouse procedures and processes designed to improve accuracy, productivity, and efficiency
- Monitor warehouse capacity and proactively plan for changing inventory levels and business needs
- Maintain clear organization and labeling throughout the warehouse
- Track inventory movement and identify slow moving, excess, obsolete, or frequently shorted inventory
- Partner with purchasing, operations, sales, and other departments to ensure inventory availability and accuracy
- Monitor warehouse performance metrics including inventory accuracy, order accuracy, productivity, space utilization, and turnaround times
- Identify opportunities to reduce inventory loss, damage, waste, and unnecessary handling
- Ensure proper handling and storage of materials and products
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized warehouse environment
- Ensure employees follow established safety procedures and company policies
- Lead, train, schedule, and develop warehouse employees
- Establish performance expectations and hold team members accountable for productivity, accuracy, and quality
- Coordinate staffing and workflow based on daily and anticipated warehouse requirements
- Assist with process improvement initiatives and implementation of new warehouse systems or technologies
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and applicable safety and operational requirements
Qualifications - 3 or more years of warehouse, distribution, or inventory management experience
- Previous experience in a Warehouse Manager, Warehouse Supervisor, Inventory Manager, or similar leadership role
- Strong experience with inventory control and inventory accuracy
- Hands on experience with warehouse slot management and optimization
- Strong understanding of warehouse layout, product placement, space utilization, and material flow
- Experience managing cycle counts and physical inventory reconciliations
- Experience using a Warehouse Management System, ERP, or inventory management system
- Strong understanding of receiving, put away, picking, staging, and shipping processes
- Proven ability to identify and resolve inventory discrepancies
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent organizational and problem solving abilities
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to analyze inventory and warehouse data and use it to improve operations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment while managing multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications - Experience redesigning or optimizing warehouse layouts
- Experience implementing or improving warehouse slotting programs
- Experience working with high volume or SKU intensive inventory environments
- Experience implementing inventory control procedures and cycle count programs
- Familiarity with barcode scanning, RF technology, and warehouse management systems
- Experience identifying slow moving and obsolete inventory
- Experience with warehouse KPIs and operational reporting
- Previous experience leading warehouse process improvement initiatives
