Since 2019, we've partnered with government agencies, municipalities, and leading contractors throughout the tri-state area on major infrastructure, environmental, and community improvement projects. As our operation continues to grow, we are looking for capable people who want to take ownership of their role and become an important part of our team. Position Summary We are seeking a dependable, hands-on Yard Manager to oversee the daily operation of our construction yard in Sayreville, NJ. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working independently, staying active, solving problems, and having variety in their workday. Rather than being confined to a warehouse or office, the Yard Manager plays a key role in keeping our field operations moving—organizing equipment and materials, coordinating deliveries, supporting jobsites, working with vendors, and making sure our crews have what they need. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is organized, mechanically inclined, comfortable with technology, and able to adapt as priorities change. Prior construction yard or equipment experience is highly valued, but equally important is someone who takes initiative, communicates well, and can be trusted to take ownership of the operation. A valid Class A CDL is required. Key Responsibilities Oversee the day-to-day organization, safety, and operation of the Sayreville yard. Receive, inspect, organize, and document incoming materials, tools, equipment, and deliveries. Maintain inventory and track equipment and materials moving between the yard and active projects. Coordinate pickups, deliveries, and equipment movement between the yard, vendors, supply houses, and jobsites. Load, secure, transport, and unload equipment and materials using trucks and trailers. Operate construction and material-handling equipment such as s kid steers, excavators, compact utility loaders/Dingos, bucket trucks, forklifts, and similar equipment, based on experience and training. Help identify and troubleshoot equipment issues, perform basic maintenance when appropriate, and assist with coordinating repairs. Use a smartphone and iPad for communication, email, photographs, documentation, inventory tracking, and company applications. Communicate regularly with management, project teams, field personnel, vendors, and suppliers. Maintain delivery tickets, equipment records, and other required yard documentation. Help anticipate upcoming project needs and keep equipment and materials ready for field operations. What We're Looking For Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record required. Experience in a construction yard, equipment yard, fleet/logistics operation, landscape construction, or similar hands-on environment preferred. Previous experience managing or taking responsibility for a yard or similar operation is a strong plus. Mechanically inclined , with an interest in and comfort around trucks, trailers, construction equipment, and small equipment. Comfortable using a smartphone and iPad as part of everyday work. Organized and capable of keeping track of multiple pieces of equipment, materials, deliveries, and changing priorities. A self-starter who can work independently, recognize what needs to be done, and follow through. Comfortable working primarily outdoors and traveling locally to vendors, supply yards, and jobsites as needed. Able to adapt to the changing priorities that come with a busy construction operation. Strong communication and practical problem-solving skills. Reliable, accountable, and interested in taking ownership of an important operational role. You do not need to know everything on day one. We value relevant experience, but we also value candidates who are mechanically capable, willing to learn, comfortable taking initiative, and interested in growing with the company. What We Offer $75,000-$85,000 salary, commensurate with experience Health benefits and paid time off Stable, full-time, Monday-Friday employment A role with independence, variety, and real responsibility Opportunity to work around a wide range of construction equipment and operations Exposure to major public works projects throughout the region Opportunity to grow alongside an expanding company and take on additional responsibility over time Eastern Landscape Contractors, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
