Based on experience Position Overview A growing consumer goods distribution company is seeking an experienced and hands-on Warehouse Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a high-volume distribution facility. This is the senior operational leadership position within the warehouse, with responsibility for Shipping, Receiving, Auditing, and Returns . The Warehouse Operations Manager will lead a team of approximately 25-30 associates and department leads , oversee daily workflow and staffing, monitor performance, and ensure safety, productivity, and accuracy throughout the facility. The ideal candidate is a visible, hands-on leader who is comfortable working on the warehouse floor, solving problems in real time, and creating a culture of accountability and teamwork. Key ResponsibilitiesDaily Operations & Planning Lead daily start-of-shift meetings with department leads to establish priorities, staffing, and daily volume expectations. Develop and adjust labor plans based on inbound shipments, outbound orders, staffing, and shipping deadlines. Monitor workflow across Shipping, Receiving, Auditing, and Returns and reallocate staff as needed to address bottlenecks. Track key warehouse performance metrics, including productivity, order accuracy, on-time shipping, inventory accuracy, receiving throughput, and returns processing. Coordinate inbound and outbound carrier and truck schedules. Partner with the Auditing team on cycle counts and inventory accuracy. Identify and resolve the root causes of inventory discrepancies. Oversee the processing of returned merchandise, including inspection, restocking, and disposition. Maintain overall operational performance across all warehouse departments. Leadership & Team Management Directly supervise department leads across Shipping, Receiving, Auditing, and Returns. Recruit, train, coach, and develop warehouse associates and team leads. Conduct performance evaluations and address performance or disciplinary issues when necessary. Maintain a visible and approachable presence on the warehouse floor. Serve as the primary point of accountability for daily warehouse operations. Make staffing and operational decisions based on business needs and daily volume. Promote a strong safety culture through training, communication, and enforcement of safety procedures. Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA and workplace safety standards. Process Improvement & Reporting Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements across warehouse operations. Develop processes to improve productivity, accuracy, and overall efficiency. Plan for seasonal increases and fluctuations in warehouse volume. Prepare and communicate daily and weekly operational performance reports to company leadership. Assist with implementation of new warehouse equipment, technology, and systems. Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and safety requirements. QualificationsRequired 2+ years of warehouse management experience supervising 20+ employees across multiple functions. Proven experience managing and coordinating Shipping, Receiving, Inventory/Auditing, Returns, or similar warehouse operations. Strong leadership and team-building skills. Demonstrated ability to motivate, coach, and develop employees. Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Comfortable spending extended periods standing, walking, and working on the warehouse floor. Flexibility to extend working hours or adjust schedule based on operational needs. Preferred Experience in footwear, apparel, retail, or consumer goods distribution. Forklift certification or experience operating warehouse equipment. Experience working with warehouse management systems and operational KPIs. $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
