Job Description
Warehouse General ManagerJob SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Warehouse General Manager to lead the daily operations of a high-volume warehouse facility. This role is responsible for overall operational performance, customer satisfaction, staffing, safety, cost control, and profitability. The ideal candidate will have strong warehouse management experience, proven leadership skills, and the ability to manage people, processes, and resources in a fast-paced distribution environment.
Roles and ResponsibilitiesLead all warehouse operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective performance.
Develop operating plans, department goals, budgets, and performance targets.
Manage staffing levels and workforce resources to meet customer and operational demands.
Oversee the safe and timely movement of freight in accordance with company procedures and customer requirements.
Monitor operational performance, productivity, costs, and service levels.
Prepare and review operational, expense, and forecasting reports to support business decisions.
Maintain accurate operational records and performance metrics.
Review customer processes and operational requirements regularly to ensure service expectations are met.
Resolve customer escalations, operational issues, and employee concerns promptly.
Identify operational problems and implement effective corrective actions.
Maintain strong safety, security, housekeeping, and operational standards throughout the warehouse.
Protect customer freight and ensure appropriate procedures are followed to minimize loss or damage.
Hire, train, develop, motivate, and manage warehouse employees and temporary labor.
Conduct employee performance reviews and address performance issues as needed.
Partner with senior management on operational performance, business objectives, and improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and EducationMinimum of 8 years of warehouse operations experience, including management-level responsibility.
High school diploma or GED required.
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
Proven experience managing a high-volume warehouse operation.
Experience managing warehouse employees and temporary labor.
Experience with operational planning, budgeting, staffing, and resource management.
Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesStrong knowledge of warehouse operations and distribution processes.
Strong leadership and people-management skills.
Ability to manage operational goals, budgets, staffing, and resources effectively.
Strong customer-service mindset with a focus on meeting service commitments.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Ability to analyze operational data, expenses, forecasts, and performance metrics.
