A Logistics Manager oversees the entire warehouse, managing the efficient flow, storage, and distribution of goods from suppliers to the warehouse, involving tasks like inventory control, transportation planning, carrier negotiation, warehouse operations, team leadership, budget management, and using logistics software to optimize costs and ensure timely delivery, requiring strong organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Essential Requirements:
Distribution Center Management:
- Lead distribution center operations including receiving, staging, put away, storage, picking, packing and shipping
- Manage thousands of active SKUs of varying sizes, shapes, weights and complexity
- Optimize WMS to ensure operational accuracy, efficiency and increased throughput
- Develop and implement distribution center (DC) quality plan to maximize customer experience and reduce costs
- Lead DC design efforts to maximize storage density, support growth and reduce cycle times
- Drive facility and equipment maintenance and safety programs
- Maximize use of technology to support quality plan, employee engagement and customer experience
- Manage value added manufacturing processes including kitting and technical assembly
- Develop and maintain meaningful and accurate metrics to report on DC performance and activities Change Management /
Continuous Improvement:
- Introduce process change based on Lean / Six Sigma methodologies
- Manage teams through cultural and technical change
- Lead training and team education efforts to drive operational flexibility and quality
- Define new roles / responsibilities / team structure to support strategic plan and growth
- Cross Functional Integration
- Co-develop supplier management programs with purchasing to optimize efficient and accurate material handling
- Collaborate with sales to develop world class customer experience programs
- Work with IT to consistently drive digitization of processes and workflow
- Manage 3rd party logistics relationships to drive accuracy and efficiency of shipped product
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- 10 plus years industry experience in similar position
- 4 year college degree in business, operations, supply chain or engineering preferred
Preferred Skills:
- Excellent communication skills including interdepartmental communication, telephone and written
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with ERP systems (Acumatica and Starship is a plus)
- Analytical aptitude and approach to projects
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize
- Experience in high growth environments
