UniSea is seeking an experienced Inventory Control Supervisor to manage all Dutch Harbor warehouse functions, including inventory management, supervising warehouse personnel, management reporting, and implementing and revising systems, programs, and procedures. The Inventory Control Supervisor will also be an active member of the Dutch Harbor management team. Essential Duties Manage inventory planning and control for all Dutch Harbor operations, coordinating operational needs to maintain efficient and cost-effective inventory levels. Supervise Central Stores and Material Handling crews to ensure effective staffing, efficient material movement, and proper training on inventory operations and company policies. Ensure inventory accuracy for ingredients, packaging supplies, parts, and equipment. Maintain and develop procedures for the Dutch Harbor inventory module within the corporate business and planning system. Coordinate with production, purchasing, and marketing teams to meet material requirements and prevent supply shortages. Coordinate with shipping companies and oversee the off-loading of production materials and Alaska freight, as well as the shipment of outbound products. Ensure containers avoid demurrage charges and damaged goods claims are filed promptly. Develop, revise, and update management reporting for all Inventory Services departments with support from the Corporate Office. Work closely with other departments to provide the information needed to manage operations, and coordinate with Corporate Office to ensure shared data used in reporting and analysis is accurate. Manage department staffing requirements and coordinate with both Alaska operations and Corporate to ensure staffing objectives and requirements are being met. Coach and motivate employees to achieve maximum performance and maintain high morale. Supervise all hiring and termination actions, in coordination with Human Resources in the department. Responsible for performance appraisals, training and grievance procedures as necessary and in cooperation with Human Resources. Maintain a safe work environment by monitoring equipment use and work practices in accordance with Company policy. Stay current on Company safety policies and ensure they are followed in and around the work area. Support Dutch Harbor departments and the Corporate Office by researching issues and helping resolve problems. Perform duties as needed to ensure timely, accurate reporting in compliance with Company and government policies and procedures. Travel to Corporate offices and other locations as necessary. Secondary Duties Other duties/special projects as required/directed.
Position Requirements:
Two to four years of previous inventory control work experience in a manufacturing environment is required. Candidates must also have previous experience working with inventory control software, general accounting practices, and product pricing. Two years of college or equivalent education and work experience is required. APICS certification is strongly preferred. Familiarity with Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP II) principles is strongly desired. Must have advanced Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Teams, OneDrive) knowledge. Previous work experience in training employees as well as writing operating procedures. Ability to analyze, show good judgment, and problem-solving skills to routine and non-routine matters within general guidelines. Requires accounting and financial analysis skills, as well as creativity in developing management reports, integrating systems, supporting project teams, and contributing to organizational design. Maintains internal contacts at the supervisory level or higher and occasional external contacts on routine and non-routine matters, using tact and persuasion to achieve desired outcomes. Also maintains required contacts within the Unalaska/Dutch Harbor community. Works in generally good conditions, with occasional exposure to undesirable elements approximately 10% of the time. Will supervise four to seven employees performing varied basic tasks, semi-skilled production work, or specialized clerical duties.
