: Job Summary
Responsible for overseeing the flow of materials into and through the manufacturing plant, including receiving, warehousing, and shipping. This role involves evaluating and training subordinates and implementing policies and an integrated, cost-effective MRP system.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure all personnel within the materials group receive necessary training and fully understand their job descriptions.
Manage communication and system integration with customers and operations.
Document all necessary procedures to facilitate uninterrupted cross-training and service to customers.
Consult with users and management regarding business needs, problems, or goals, and lead corrective action initiatives.
Design manual or automated solutions to address user or customer requirements.
Investigate material shortages and delays to expedite deliveries and lead long-term resolutions.
Work with users and management to define procedures that must be followed.
Manage supplier delivery performance and set target improvements to correct unacceptable delivery performance.
Ensure all

procedures are followed and lead continuous improvement efforts.
Set and meet budget targets.
Perform all functions in a legal, ethical, and professional manner.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Continuously improve through REAP, A.I.T.s, and Six Sigma initiatives.
Communicate with OEM Material Department personnel and Supplier Management personnel daily.
Provide
MRP/QAD/SAP
expertise to the SCC group on an ongoing basis.
Ensure inventory accuracy, including cycle counts, adjustments, and lean material flow.
Implement the Supply Chain Management Strategic Guideline.
Ensure returnable container policies, loop-size, and maintenance and tracking requirements are met.
Achieve Inventory Turn Rate budgeted goals.
Facilitate the effective implementation of Engineering Changes within the facility.
Drive continuous improvement of material flow and automation in logistics functions toward a World Class WPS rating.
Support and plan the launch of new programs.
Support Program Management with demand changes and/or End of Production activities, minimizing obsolescence and rack disposal.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, materials or supplier management, related computer science field, or equivalent experience.
Minimum 5-7 years of automotive materials management experience in a supervisory role.
Computer knowledge and literacy required.
Experience in SAP.
Excellent analytical ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to be creative and flexible in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
Basic knowledge of various transportation methods.
Literate in inventory control practices and procedures.
MRP & EDI
knowledge required.
Basic knowledge of packaging/shipping requirements.
Familiarity with
AIAG & APIC
standards.
