Under the direction of the Utility Business Administrator; supervises Storekeeper II staff and oversees the day-to-day operation of the storeroom and offsite storage areas. Receives, stores, rotates, issues, and tracks materials and equipment while maintaining accurate inventory records and compliance with inventory control and safety procedures. Performs hands-on storekeeping functions, including operating material-handling equipment as needed; monitors and orders inventory using electronic systems; and oversees physical inventories and reconciliations. Directs and trains staff, assigns work, coordinates deliveries and pickups, oversees uniform rental services, and supports County operations through effective storeroom management. Summary of Job Duties Oversees and participates in the receipt, unloading, sorting, storage, and rotation of stock in storeroom and off-site storage areas, ensuring proper organization, efficiency, accessibility, and adherence to inventory control procedures. Operates and monitors the safe use of forklifts and pallet jacks by assigned staff, ensures required inspections are completed, and enforces compliance with applicable safety standards. Reviews the verification of quantities, quality, sizing, and specifications of materials against purchase orders, and ensures discrepancies are documented and resolved. Ensures storage areas are maintained in an orderly condition so materials can be accurately located and tracked. Oversees the issuing and delivery of supplies and equipment to County facilities and other work locations, ensuring materials are charged to the appropriate departments and accurately recorded in both paper and electronic records. Coordinates delivery and pickup schedules, including the transport of scrap metal and recyclable materials to designated facilities, and ensures vehicles and equipment are used in accordance with County procedures. Ensures the accurate use of computerized inventory management systems and supporting documentation to track inventory levels, including entering, reviewing, approving transactions, and maintaining current stock information. Monitors inventory activity, identifies material and supply needs, reviews specifications, and ensures timely ordering of supplies and equipment using electronic systems in compliance with purchasing requirements. Oversees the conduct of physical inventories and cycle counts, reviews reconciliations, and ensures inventory issued during emergency or seasonal situations is properly tracked and recorded. Provides ongoing direction, training, and guidance to Storekeeper II staff in the performance of inventory control and storekeeping duties. Observes work performance, addresses procedural or safety issues, and reinforces compliance with established policies, procedures, and safety requirements. Assigns and adjusts work assignments to ensure effective coverage and efficient workflow in response to operational priorities and workload demands. Provides guidance to staff regarding equipment needs, material availability, and appropriate inventory practices. Reviews recommendations for materials and supplies to support future operational requirements. Oversees the delivery, distribution, tracking, and reconciliation of rented employee uniforms, ensuring inventories are accurate and services are coordinated with the vendor in accordance with established procedures. Oversees the assembly of specialty items, the replacement of obsolete or damaged materials, and the packaging of damaged or returned equipment for shipment to vendors. Ensures proper disposal or recycling of materials, including batteries, copier toner, and other regulated items, in accordance with established procedures. (Performs Related Duties as Required) Minimum Qualifications and Requirements Equivalent to high school diploma and two (2) years of experience in storekeeping or inventory control, and two (2) years of experience utilizing a computerized inventory management system or similar software system; OR alternative, equivalent evidence of the Minimum Class Requirements.
Supplemental Information Driving Requirement :
Must maintain a current, valid United States driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Training and Development:
Must obtain OSHA Forklift Safety certification during probationary period. Must maintain licensure.
