UAF Facilities Services is looking for a highly organized and service-minded professional to help manage our Vehicle and Equipment Pool and keep transportation operations running smoothly across campus. In this role, you'll coordinate the day-to-day operations of UAF's vehicle and equipment fleet, including scheduling rentals and drivers, tracking preventative maintenance and repairs, managing long-term leases, monitoring vehicle availability, and helping departments find the right transportation solutions for their needs. You'll work closely with departments across the university, coordinate with repair shops and insurance representatives when needed, maintain fleet and work-order records, assist with billing and budgeting, and help plan for future vehicle and equipment needs. You'll also supervise and support student employees, coordinate shuttle services, prepare vehicles for rental, and make sure vehicles are safe, clean, equipped, and ready to go. During UAF's busiest seasons, you'll play an important role in balancing competing needs and making sure our fleet is being used efficiently and effectively. To thrive in this role, you'll need strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills, along with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a changing work environment. You should be comfortable working independently, making sound decisions, evaluating exception requests, and recommending improvements to processes and operations. Successful candidates will bring general knowledge of vehicles and equipment, including capabilities, maintenance and repair needs, purchasing, and fleet management concepts such as life-cycle costing. Familiarity with the Alaska road system, federal and state motor carrier regulations, OSHA requirements, and hazardous materials handling is also important. Experience interpreting and applying contracts and collective bargaining agreements is beneficial. Strong computer skills are essential, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to develop and maintain spreadsheets, reports, and databases used for budgeting, maintenance tracking, rate development, and fleet operations. This position also works extensively with work-order management and fleet reservation software. The ability to effectively supervise and support employees, including student workers, is important for success in this role. A high school diploma or equivalent and three years of progressively responsible office or administrative experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, is required.

This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package .
