You will:
Supervise and support CDL drivers and route employees Coordinate daily routes, staffing, equipment, and service priorities Start the day with your team and help ensure routes are staffed and ready to operate Conduct field observations, route checks, and employee ride-alongs Coach employees on safety, productivity, attendance, customer service, and job performance Monitor route completion and respond to operational issues throughout the day Help improve route efficiency and labor productivity Lead safety meetings and reinforce Waste Pro's safety expectations Investigate accidents, injuries, property damage, and safety incidents Complete required incident and operational documentation Respond to customer concerns and help resolve service issues Work closely with Fleet Maintenance when trucks require repairs or service Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, training, and developing employees Conduct performance discussions and hold employees accountable when expectations are not met Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, company policies, and applicable safety regulations Step in to support route coverage and operations when needed Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent with 3-5 years of experience in transportation, management, logistics, waste/recycling, or a related field; OR Associate degree with at least 2 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or solid waste operations where coaching, route assessments, and employee supervision are key responsibilities. Previous supervisory or management experience preferred. Ability to coach employees, assess route performance, and provide day-to-day operational leadership. Knowledge and prior application of Smith System and/or Decision Driving principles and techniques preferred. Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, ANSI, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proven customer service and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and resolve problems in a fast-paced environment. Basic computer skills with general knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, based on operational needs. Must be available by phone to address operational issues as needed. Ability to maintain a professional and positive attitude when working with employees and customers. Knowledge of basic first-aid techniques is helpful.CDL Qualification:
A Florida Class A or Class B CDL is preferred. If selected without a CDL, Waste Pro will provide you with the opportunity to obtain the required CDL within three (3) months of hire. Personal and business driving record must meet Waste Pro standards and insurance requirements. This Is a Field Leadership Position Successful Route Supervisors are visible, engaged leaders who are comfortable being where the work happens.The position includes:
Working outdoors throughout the day Conducting route observations and employee ride-alongs Walking collection routes and operational areas Driving a company vehicle throughout the service area Working around commercial vehicles and heavy equipment Occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds Responding to operational needs, emergencies, weather events, and occasional weekend or holiday requirements Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position. - Requires a High School diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 3-5 years experience in the transportation, management, logistics or waste industry; or
- Associate's Degree or minimum of 2 years experience in transportation, logistics, or solid waste operations in which coaching, routing assessments and supervising employees are requirements of the role.
- Knowledge and prior application of Smith System and/or Decision Driving principles and techniques.
- Basic computer skills and general knowledge of Microsoft applications.
- Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, ANSI and other related federal, state & local regulations.
- Valid class A or B commercial driver's license (or ability to obtain one within 3 months of hire) with a personal and business driving record that meets Waste Pro standards and insurance requirements.
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
- Proven customer service skills.
- Must be able to work independently make decisions and resolve problems.
- Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and be available to address operational issues by phone at all times.
- Ability to maintain and portray a positive attitude towards staff and customers.
- Knowledge of first aid techniques helpful.
