Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Diesel Fleet Manager to lead and oversee the maintenance, repair, and operational efficiency of our heavy-duty vehicle fleet. This vital role involves managing a team of skilled technicians, coordinating vehicle servicing schedules, and ensuring all equipment complies with safety and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of diesel engines, heavy equipment, and vehicle systems, along with a proactive approach to fleet optimization. Duties Supervise daily operations of the fleet maintenance department, ensuring timely repairs and preventive maintenance for all diesel-powered vehicles and heavy equipment Coordinate with dealership service centers and external vendors for specialized repairs such as fabrication, excavator, crane, or Caterpillar equipment servicing Oversee vehicle inspections using schematics and diagnostic tools to identify mechanical issues accurately Manage inventory of parts, hand tools, power tools, and other equipment necessary for repairs and maintenance Implement safety protocols related to vehicle maintenance, including air brake systems, hydraulics, suspension systems, and electrical systems repair Conduct regular training sessions for technicians on new technologies like HVAC systems, automotive electrical repairs, or welding techniques Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs, parts replacements, and compliance documentation Ensure adherence to industry standards for heavy truck repair, tire service, alignment procedures, and vehicle systems diagnostics Experience Proven experience in dealership settings or heavy equipment repair environments with a focus on diesel mechanics and fleet management Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems repair including transmissions, suspensions, shocks & struts, brakes, and powertrain components Hands-on experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators or cranes; familiarity with farm machinery or industrial equipment is a plus Strong background in automotive diagnostics using schematics and electrical testing tools Skilled in welding, soldering, heavy lifting techniques, tire service, and general equipment maintenance Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics for complex machinery repairs Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with drivers and internal teams regarding vehicle issues Certifications related to heavy truck repair, diesel engine repair, air brake systems, HVAC systems for vehicles or equipment are highly desirable Join us as a Diesel Fleet Manager to lead a dedicated team committed to maintaining a robust fleet that keeps operations running smoothly. Pay:
$80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
