This pivotal role involves overseeing vehicle dispatching, managing fleet maintenance, coordinating logistics, and optimizing transportation strategies to meet organizational goals. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for efficient fleet management. Duties Oversee daily fleet operations, including vehicle dispatching, routing, and scheduling to maximize efficiency and reduce costs. Utilize transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and Vehicle Dispatch Software to plan and monitor shipments. Coordinate with internal teams through effective communication channels, including multi-line phone systems and internal messaging platforms, to ensure smooth operations. Manage GPS and GIS tools for route optimization, tracking vehicle locations, and ensuring compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. Supervise supply chain activities related to freight movement, logistics planning, and road transportation operations. Conduct data entry related to fleet activities, maintenance records, and driver logs using Microsoft Office applications and specialized logistics software like SyteLine. Handle phone call management with professionalism, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette while addressing inquiries from drivers, customers, and vendors. Monitor vehicle maintenance schedules and coordinate repairs to ensure fleet safety and compliance with DOT standards. Analyze transportation data to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings. Support customer service efforts by providing timely updates on freight status and resolving transportation-related issues efficiently. Experience Proven experience in fleet management or transportation planning within a logistics or supply chain environment. Familiarity with transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or similar platforms. Strong knowledge of road transportation operations, dispatching procedures, and freight handling processes. Experience using GPS tracking tools, GIS software, vehicle dispatch software, and internal communication systems. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced setting. Demonstrated analysis skills for evaluating transportation data and implementing process improvements. Effective communication skills for interacting with drivers, clients, vendors, and internal teams via phone calls or written correspondence. Knowledge of DOT regulations governing commercial vehicle operations is highly desirable.
