Job Summary Position Summary Bond Carriers, Inc. is seeking an experienced Trucking Operations & Fleet Manager to oversee the daily operations of a growing fleet of approximately 10-20 commercial trucks. This position is responsible for managing drivers, monitoring equipment condition, coordinating maintenance and repairs, maintaining DOT compliance, and helping ensure that trucks and drivers operate safely, legally, and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have hands-on trucking experience, solid mechanical knowledge, strong management skills, and experience with Motive ELD or similar fleet-management systems. This is an active management position requiring regular communication with drivers, mechanics, vendors, customers, and company management. This is not strictly a desk or dispatch position. The manager must be willing to inspect equipment, speak directly with drivers and mechanics, follow up on repairs, and take ownership of day-to-day fleet operations. Situations may arise that require you to use your CDL and drive. Primary Responsibilities Manage and supervise company drivers. Maintain regular communication with drivers concerning loads, schedules, equipment issues, and company expectations. Monitor driver performance, attendance, safety practices, and compliance. Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, and evaluating drivers. Verify that drivers maintain current licenses, medical cards, permits, and required qualification documents. Monitor drivers' hours of service and Motive ELD records. Review and address ELD violations, unidentified driving time, missing logs, and other compliance issues. Ensure trucks and trailers are safe, properly maintained, and ready for roadside or DOT inspections. Review driver vehicle inspection reports and follow up on reported defects. Identify mechanical problems and determine whether equipment can be safely operated or must be taken out of service. Schedule preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, tires, and other service work. Coordinate with repair shops, mobile mechanics, dealerships, towing companies, and parts suppliers. Track annual DOT inspections, registrations, apportioned plates, permits, insurance documents, and other equipment records. Maintain organized maintenance and repair records for each truck and trailer. Monitor CSA-related concerns, roadside inspections, citations, accidents, and safety violations. Assist with accident reporting, insurance documentation, and post-accident procedures. Help coordinate dispatch, driver availability, truck assignments, and delivery schedules. Monitor fuel usage, tolls, repair expenses, downtime, and other operating costs. Use Motive ELD and other transportation-management or fleet-maintenance programs. Enforce company safety policies and

requirements. Report fleet performance, driver concerns, equipment problems, and significant expenses to company ownership. Required Qualifications Previous experience managing commercial drivers or trucking operations. Working knowledge of DOT and FMCSA safety requirements. Experience reviewing driver logs and hours-of-service compliance. Experience using Motive ELD or a comparable electronic logging system. Strong working knowledge of diesel trucks, trailers, brakes, tires, electrical systems, air systems, and common mechanical problems. Ability to evaluate equipment problems and communicate effectively with drivers and mechanics. Experience coordinating truck and trailer maintenance. Strong organizational, recordkeeping, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple drivers, trucks, repairs, and deadlines simultaneously. Basic computer skills, including email, spreadsheets, online portals, and fleet-management software. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Ability to respond to urgent driver or equipment issues outside normal business hours when necessary. Preferred Qualifications Class A CDL. Prior experience as a commercial truck driver, diesel mechanic, fleet manager, safety manager, or trucking terminal manager. Experience managing a fleet of 10 or more trucks. Experience with flatbed, heavy-haul, oversize, or specialized freight operations. Knowledge of IRP, IFTA, permits, roadside inspections, and driver qualification files. Experience with Motive, Whip Around, fuel-card systems, toll-management systems, or similar trucking programs. Knowledge of preventive-maintenance scheduling and DOT inspection requirements. Ideal Candidate The right person will be firm, dependable, organized, and comfortable holding drivers accountable. The candidate must be capable of recognizing mechanical and safety problems before they result in breakdowns, violations, or accidents. This is not strictly a desk or dispatch position.
