Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and responsible Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Driver to join our transportation team. In this vital role, you will operate various types of commercial vehicles, including school buses, transit buses, and paratransit vehicles, to ensure safe and reliable transportation for passengers of all ages. Your expertise in traffic laws, safety regulations, and customer service will help create a positive experience for riders while maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community by providing dependable transportation services. Responsibilities Safely operate commercial vehicles such as school buses, transit buses, and paratransit vans in accordance with all traffic laws and transportation safety regulations Assist passengers with wheelchair assistance and provide support for senior care or individuals with mobility challenges Ensure passenger safety by following emergency response procedures for transportation incidents and implementing emergency stop procedures when necessary Maintain clear communication with dispatchers and passengers using effective English language skills, including multilingual capabilities if applicable Conduct pre-trip inspections to verify vehicle condition, including checking vehicle codes, lights, brakes, and safety equipment Follow school policies or transit agency guidelines related to student discipline or passenger conduct Respond quickly to traffic changes or route adjustments to ensure timely arrivals and departures Skills Proven experience in bus driving, school bus operation, or transit bus driving with a strong understanding of transportation safety regulations Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, state and local commercial driving laws, and emergency response procedures for transportation Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for vehicle maintenance or passenger assistance Excellent communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities Familiarity with student discipline policies or senior care protocols as applicable Demonstrated defensive driving skills and quick response to traffic changes to ensure passenger safety at all times Basic first aid certification including CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and first aid skills to handle emergencies effectively Strong writing skills for completing reports such as incident logs or shift documentation Join us in delivering safe, reliable transportation while making a positive difference in our community!
