A Director of Transportation directs and oversees transportation operations within an organization or a company, or directs the activities of an organization that provides transportation services.
DiCarlo Distributors, Inc. is seeking an experienced Transportation Supervisor to join our team. This position is responsible for overseeing daily transportation operations, supervising drivers and transportation staff, and ensuring deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies and DOT regulations.

Salary:
$65,000 to $85,000 per year, depending on experience
Responsibilities Include:
Proactively oversee, direct, and coordinate daily transportation and delivery operations. Supervise CDL and Non CDL drivers, Fleet Coordinator, Dispatch, and other transportation administrative staff. Ensure drivers and transportation employees are properly trained and consistently following company procedures and safety requirements. Monitor drivers' end of day processes to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. Identify opportunities to improve transportation processes, efficiency, and communication. Work closely with other departments to resolve delivery, operational, and customer service issues. Coordinate with the Fleet Coordinator, drivers, leasing companies, and outside vendors to ensure vehicles and delivery equipment are properly maintained, safe, and available for daily operations. Interview transportation candidates and conduct driver road tests. Assist with coordinating and overseeing new driver training and onboarding. Provide hands on support to the transportation team when needed, including assisting delivery drivers with hand truck deliveries to ensure routes are completed.
Qualifications and Skills:
Must have a valid CDL Class A or B license, or be willing and able to obtain one. 3 to 5 years of management or supervisory experience, preferably within food distribution, transportation, or a similar industry supervising drivers in a DOT regulated environment. Working knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation safety requirements. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with drivers, employees, internal departments, vendors, and customers. Highly organized and detail oriented, with the flexibility to work effectively in a fast paced and changing transportation environment. Strong problem solving, decision making, and reasoning skills. Proven experience improving processes, organizing transportation operations, and training employees. Experience with cloud based transportation routing and/or dispatch software, handheld scanning devices, and related technology is preferred.
