Dedicated Fleet Manager Full-Time | Transportation Operations | Portland, OR Position Summary The Dedicated Fleet Manager is responsible for the safe, reliable, and profitable day-to-day operation of an assigned dedicated trucking fleet. This role serves as the primary operational contact for drivers and the customer, ensuring service commitments are met while balancing driver utilization, equipment availability, cost control, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate is a hands-on leader who communicates clearly, responds quickly, and builds strong relationships with drivers, customers, maintenance partners, and internal support teams. Key Responsibilities
- Direct daily fleet operations, including load planning, dispatch execution, on-time pickup and delivery, equipment utilization, and exception management.
- Lead, coach, and support assigned drivers; set clear expectations, reinforce accountability, recognize strong performance, and address attendance, safety, service, or conduct concerns promptly.
- Serve as the primary operational liaison for the dedicated customer, providing timely updates, resolving service issues, and identifying opportunities to improve capacity, efficiency, and satisfaction.
- Monitor hours of service, driver availability, route feasibility, trailer pools, tractor status, and freight demand to create practical operating plans.
- Track and improve key performance indicators, including on-time service, preventable accidents, driver retention, revenue, cost per mile, empty miles, fuel performance, equipment utilization, and customer scorecard results.
- Coordinate with maintenance, safety, recruiting, payroll, billing, and other support functions to resolve issues and maintain continuity of service.
- Promote compliance with DOT and FMCSA requirements, company policies, customer procedures, and all applicable safety standards.
- Review operating results, identify root causes of performance gaps, and implement corrective actions with measurable follow-through.
- Maintain accurate records and communications in transportation management, telematics, payroll, and customer systems.
- Participate in after-hours or on-call coverage as required by the operation. Required Qualifications
- Three or more years of experience in trucking, transportation, logistics, dispatch, or fleet operations.
- At least one year of experience leading drivers, dispatchers, or other frontline transportation employees.
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations, hours-of-service rules, and safe commercial vehicle operations.
- Strong judgment and problem-solving ability in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
- Demonstrated customer-service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and senior leaders.
- Proficiency with transportation management systems, telematics platforms, Microsoft Office, and performance reporting.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and respond to operational needs outside normal business hours.
- High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain, business, or a related field.
- Experience managing a dedicated fleet or account with customer-specific service requirements.
- Knowledge of fleet financials, including revenue, variable cost, fixed cost, productivity, and margin performance.
- Experience with continuous-improvement methods and driver engagement or retention programs. Measures of Success

Work Environment and Schedule This position is based at customer location and routinely involves work in an office, truck yard, warehouse, or customer facility. The schedule will align with fleet needs and may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays. Compensation and Benefits Market Express offers a competitive salary of [$75,000 to $90,000], performance-based incentive opportunities, and a benefits package that include medical, dental, vision, retirement savings, paid time off, and company-paid training. Final compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, location, and business needs.
