- Career advancement opportunities Job Summary The Equipment Control Coordinator will be responsible for efficiently allocating pool cars based on customer and operational needs.
- Allocate pool cars based on customer and operational needs
- Collaborate with the fleet manager to ensure cars are achieving the intended return on investment
- Work with customers to meet order needs as cars become available
- Understand the markets that support pooled fleets to ensure the right balance of cars
- Coordinate with operations on where cars need to be pre-staged
- Work with foreign railroads as needed to manage car cycles
- Maintain education on all current rules governed by the AAR and Class I's policies (interchange/switch railcars)
- Other duties may be assigned as needed Qualifications
- Excellent communication and coordination skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with various departments and external partners
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Excel, PowerBI
- Railroad experience
- Railroad car type general knowledge (specifications, commodities, etc.)
- General understanding of rules and regulations regarding car ownership (car hire, de-prescription) Education Must be 18 years of age or older with High School or GED equivalent
