Responsibilities Safely operate commercial vehicles such as school buses, transit buses, and wheelchair-accessible vans in accordance with traffic laws and transportation safety regulations Transport passengers efficiently while adhering to scheduled routes and timeframes Assist passengers with boarding and alighting, including providing wheelchair assistance and supporting individuals with mobility needs Maintain passenger safety by enforcing behavior management policies and ensuring compliance with school policies and transportation codes Respond promptly to traffic changes or emergencies using emergency response procedures for transportation Conduct vehicle inspections before and after trips to ensure vehicle safety and cleanliness Communicate effectively with dispatchers, passengers, and emergency responders using clear language and multilingual skills if applicable Handle heavy lifting when securing mobility devices or assisting passengers with luggage or equipment Follow all state and local commercial driving laws, including traffic laws and vehicle codes Provide first aid or CPR when necessary to ensure passenger well-being during transit incidents Experience Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for passenger transport (e.g., P endorsement for passenger vehicles) Proven experience driving school buses, transit buses, or paratransit vehicles in a professional setting Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations applicable to commercial driving Experience working with children or seniors in a transportation context is highly desirable Familiarity with emergency response procedures for transportation incidents and emergency stop procedures Strong communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while assisting passengers or securing equipment Demonstrated understanding of student discipline policies and behavior management techniques when working with youth populations Excellent customer service skills combined with quick response capabilities to adapt to traffic changes or unexpected situations Join us in delivering safe, reliable transportation that makes a positive impact every day.
