You will serve as the on-site authorized representative responsible for protecting construction crews, drivers, and pedestrians. This position demands strict adherence to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) and Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) safety regulations. Roles and Responsibilities Supervise traffic control teams, ensuring proper placement and operation of signs, barriers, cones, and flagging devices in accordance with safety standards and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations

Regulatory Compliance :

Act as the permitted project authority, enforcing all city, county, and WSDOT traffic specifications.

Site Management :

Set up, maintain, and safely dismantle traffic devices like signs, cones, arrow boards, and barriers daily.

Crew Supervision :

Train, evaluate, and direct on-site traffic flaggers, verifying that all personnel maintain valid state certifications.

Public Safety :

Manage safe vehicle and pedestrian ingress/egress around work zones, minimizing traffic bottlenecks.

Daily Reporting :

Complete digital, site-specific daily traffic control logs, documenting any plan deviations within 24 hours.

Emergency Response :

Maintain 24-hour on-call availability to respond to traffic hazards, inclement weather events, or accidents.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications State Certifications :

Must hold an active Washington State Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) Card and a Washington State Flagger Card .

Field Experience :

Minimum of 2,000 hours of documented work zone experience (required to maintain the WA TCS credential).

Driver's Record :

Valid WA Driver's License with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR); ability to navigate trailer-mounted equipment is a plus.

Screening :

Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening (Safety-Sensitive role with a strict policy regarding controlled substances). Commitment to safety protocol adherence at all times during outdoor work activities Physical Demands & Environment Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods on uneven outdoor construction terrain. Capability to lift, carry, and place heavy objects up to 50 lbs (such as sign stands and sandbags). Comfortable working in volatile Pacific Northwest weather conditions, including rain, snow, and extreme summer temperatures. Flexibility to work varying shifts including early mornings, nights, and weekends based on project timelines.
