Head Start Nutrition & Transportation Coordinator

Job Description

Job requirements include, but are not limited to: Assist in meeting the special dietary needs of children; Aid in the incorporation of nutrition education activities in the centers; Promote child wellness for healthy, developmentally appropriate nutrition services; Participate in Health and Mental Health Advisory Committee meetings; Assist in the design, development, and delivery of in-service training programs and orientation for the Head Start staff; Responsible for reporting meal counts and transportation monthly and submit necessary billing; Assist Head Start Cooks in preparing meals; Serve as a substitute cook or driver, when needed; Maintain food inventory records; Provide food service personnel with guidance in food budgeting, purchasing, storage, preparation, service, and setting up efficient record systems; Assist in interpreting and meeting health, sanitation, and safety standards related to nutrition; Ensure all safety procedures are followed in the transportation area and at all facilities. Minimum qualifications include High school diploma or GED, at least two years of kitchen experience, computer experience, knowledge of school buses and bus safety, and strong communication and organizational skills. College coursework or degree and experience in child nutrition, food service, or early childhood programs are preferred. Candidate must possess or be willing to receive a Commercial Driver's License.
