Job Description

Phillips Outdoor Services is now hiring a Deck & Rail Crew Leader to join our growing team in Onalaska, WI. We're looking for a skilled carpenter with demonstrated leadership experience who's passionate about building beautiful outdoor living spaces. You're ready to take ownership of projects, grow your team's capabilities, and deliver exceptional craftsmanship that transforms properties. As our Deck & Railing Crew Leader, you'll manage our dedicated team to create award-winning deck and railing installations throughout the La Crosse, WI and Winona, MN region. This role combines expert-level carpentry with leadership growth—you'll apply your systematic methods to project execution while working with a company committed to innovation and excellence in outdoor construction. This role offers up to $35/hour and up to a $2,500 sign-on bonus, profit sharing, comprehensive benefits, and clear advancement opportunities for driven leaders ready to elevate their career in outdoor services. Purpose Lead deck and rail installation crews by managing daily operations, developing team skills, and ensuring safe, efficient, high-quality deck and railing projects from planning to completion. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage deck and railing installation crews across residential and commercial projects Plan and execute project timelines for maximum efficiency and quality Train, mentor, and develop crew members on proper carpentry techniques and safety protocols Operate jobsite tools and machinery safely and proficiently Maintain clean and organized jobsites based on company standards Ensure quality control on all installations and address customer concerns Participate in leadership development and performance reviews with management Communicate effectively with customers, team members, and project managers Manage material ordering and coordinate with other divisions as needed Required Qualifications 3-5 years of carpentry experience with specific expertise in deck construction and railing installation Proven leadership experience managing and developing construction crews Ability to perform physical labor including lifting 50+ lbs, kneeling, climbing, and standing for extended periods Strong safety awareness and commitment to protocols, especially power tool safety Reliable attendance and punctuality Excellent communication and problem-solving skills Team-oriented with proven ability to lead and develop others Valid driver's license required Training & Development Ongoing leadership development and professional training Regular performance reviews and growth planning sessions Mentorship opportunities to develop future crew leaders Clear advancement path toward senior leadership roles Reporting Structure Reports to Operations Manager with regular check-ins
Compensation & Benefits Base Pay:
Up to $35/hour based on experience
