The Distribution Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing daily distribution warehouse operations, ensuring accurate inventory control, efficient storage and distribution of goods, and maintaining the organization's inventory management system. This role leads any warehouse staff, ensures compliance with safety standards, and drives continuous improvement in warehouse processes to support business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Warehouse Operations Manage and oversee all warehouse activities, including receiving, storage, picking, packing, shipping, and inventory control. Ensure products are stored safely, accurately, and efficiently. Provide same day fulfillment of orders from the Service Centers to avoid delays in service. Develop and implement warehouse procedures to improve productivity and operational effectiveness. Coordinate with purchasing, production, and logistics teams to ensure seamless inventory flow. Inventory Management Maintain and administer the Inventory Management System (IMS) to ensure accurate and timely inventory records. Monitor inventory levels and perform regular cycle counts and physical inventory audits to verify inventory accuracy. Manage inventory through established Min/Max levels to maintain adequate stock, prevent backorders, and avoid stockouts. Investigate, reconcile, and resolve inventory discrepancies in a timely manner. Ensure accurate and timely recording of all inventory transactions, including receipts, transfers, adjustments, and shipments. Generate inventory reports and analyze stock levels, inventory turns, shortages, excess inventory, and other key performance indicators for management review. Develop, implement, and maintain inventory control procedures and best practices to achieve and sustain inventory accuracy of 98% or greater. Team Leadership Supervise, train, and develop warehouse personnel. Assign workloads and monitor employee performance. Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Conduct performance evaluations and support employee development initiatives. Compliance & Safety Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and warehouse safety standards. Conduct regular safety inspections and training programs. Maintain a clean, organized, and secure warehouse environment. Process Improvement Identify opportunities to improve warehouse efficiency and inventory accuracy. Implement warehouse management system enhancements and process automation initiatives. Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, and warehouse productivity. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field preferred. 5+ years of warehouse management experience. Strong experience managing Inventory Management Systems (ERP, WMS, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms). Proven experience with inventory control, cycle counting, and inventory reconciliation. Strong leadership and team management skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and warehouse reporting tools. Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. Preferred Skills Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and ERP platforms. Experience implementing inventory control improvements. Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience. Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
