Job Description
Overview A state-of-the-art, full-service steel construction company serving the greater Northeast corridor is looking to add a Shipping Coordinator to their growing team, based just north of Boston, Massachusetts. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on shipping or logistics professional who can coordinate fabricated-steel deliveries, drivers, trailers, documentation, and jobsite requirements. The strongest candidate will understand that this is not a traditional warehouse shipping position—it combines logistics, construction scheduling, trucking compliance, and production coordination. Major Job Functions & Responsibilities Responsible for ensuring all deliveries are loaded properly and shipped in a timely manner to meet the project demands per daily production schedule Create accurate Bill of Lading for all loads to outside vendors and jobsites Coordinate with Purchasing to fulfill shop orders to meet required date on site Coordinate sequence of shipping itinerary and special delivery criteria with assigned Project Manager Coordinate trucking manpower (internal and outside Drivers) on all deliveries while adhering to DOT code requirements and restrictions Knowledge road trucking codes and restrictions of New England states and New York Track location of all internally owned and leased trailers, ensure annual inspections are current Secure trucking permits for over-sized load as required Maintain organized, clean and safe workspace Authorities Related to Job Functions & Responsibilities Able to delay or stop shipment to address a variety of discrepancies Direct daily coordination of loading and shipping order of sequence Required Skills/Abilities 3-5+ years of experience in shipping, logistics, dispatch, or transportation coordination Experience with structural steel, metal fabrication, building materials, heavy equipment, or construction Proficiency with bills of lading and shipping documentation Experience coordinating both company drivers and outside carriers Experience with flatbed, oversized, overweight, or specialized-load shipments Knowledge of DOT requirements and New England trucking restrictions Ability to read shop drawings, erection drawings, blueprints, or bills of material Experience scheduling deliveries directly to active construction sites Strong computer, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to work onsite #CDIV101
Pay:
$30.00 - $35.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per weekBenefits:
