Job Description

HOURS:
Monday - Thursday (10 hour shifts, 6:30am-5pm) Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented, hands-on individual to join our team as a Shipping and Receiving Lead Hand. This role combines the daily physical work of shipping and receiving with the coordination and know-how to keep the department running smoothly — you'll be the go-to person on the floor, working alongside one other team member to manage both our Educational and Industrial shipments. Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day shipping and receiving operations and lead/train the shipping helper on assigned tasks Receive and inspect incoming shipments, verifying accuracy of items received Unload and load trucks using forklifts and pallet jacks Package and palletize products to protect against shipping damage Operate forklifts, scales, carousel, shrink wrapper, dock ramps, battery chargers, and the software used in the shipping process Prepare shipping labels and documentation for outgoing shipments, including customer-specific special label requirements Coordinate carrier selection (UPS, FedEx, LTL) for educational orders based on customer terms, and provide accurate weights/dimensions to customers arranging their own freight on Industrial orders Replenish the carousel with product and maintain correct bin tags and organization Collaborate with team members to ensure timely, accurate order fulfillment Communicate and promote company safety policies and procedures; report equipment issues for repair Maintain a clean and organized work area Requirements Previous experience in shipping and receiving or warehouse operations required Experience training, guiding, or leading others in a warehouse setting preferred Proficiency operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment; ability to pass company forklift certification Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods Ability to perform basic math skills Strong attention to detail and accuracy in order processing Computer literate, with excellent organizational and time management skills This position offers an opportunity to lead a vital component of our supply chain operations.
