The role serves as the operational backbone of the branch, coordinating activities between sales, warehouse, purchasing, and transportation functions to drive customer satisfaction and profitability. This role will be primarily in Charleston, SC with expectations to travel weekly to Columbia, SC. Key Responsibilities Branch Operations & Inventory Management Ensure day-to-day operational excellence through adherence to company processes and procedures. Maintain inventory integrity by ensuring products are stored in the correct bin locations and inventory records accurately reflect physical inventory. Coordinate cycle counts, investigate inventory discrepancies, and implement corrective actions as needed. Ensure proper management of customer specific inventory (stocking agreement, min/max levels…) Ensure accurate and timely receipt of inventory from suppliers and branch transfers. Customer Service & Order Fulfillment Ensure customer orders are processed, picked, shipped, and delivered accurately and on time. Monitor service levels and coordinate with warehouse and sales teams to resolve fulfillment issues and meet customer requirements. Freight & Logistics Optimization Assess current operational structure (delivery vehicles and personnel), and determine what the optimal structure should be. Collaborate with sales leadership to evaluate customer delivery requirements and available fulfillment options. Review current freight transactions to ensure proper and optimal use of delivery method (truck fill rate, carrier selection…) Ensure proper coding and allocation of inbound and outbound freight charges. Select and coordinate the most cost-effective shipping and delivery methods while ensuring customer service commitments are met. Support initiatives that improve freight recovery, reduce transportation expenses, and enhance overall profitability. Staff Management Direct manager of employees at the branch. Responsible for onboarding, including interviewing, hiring, and training. As well as employee relations, performance reviews and offboarding. Safety & Facility Standards Promote compliance with company safety policies and operating procedures. Maintain an organized, clean, and safe warehouse and branch environment. Support ongoing safety inspections and operational audits as required. Desired Skills and Experience 3+ years of experience in branch operations, inventory management, logistics, distribution, warehouse operations, or customer service. Experience within industrial distribution, safety products, steel, PVF, construction supply, or related industries preferred. Strong understanding of inventory control, shipping, receiving, and transportation processes. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and process compliance. Experience in a managerial role. Work Environment and Physical Demands This role works in both office and warehouse environments. The employee routinely uses computers, phones, ERP systems, and standard office equipment. Frequent interaction with warehouse personnel, delivery providers, suppliers, and customers is required. The employee will regularly walk throughout warehouse and branch facilities and may occasionally lift up to 25 pounds independently and up to 50 pounds with assistance.
