General Laborer - Machine and Sheet Metal Department Job Description This role supports the Machine and Sheet Metal Department by operating equipment, inspecting parts for quality, and assisting with basic production tasks. You work hands-on with materials and tools, verify measurements, and help ensure that all parts meet required specifications in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Operate machines in the Machine and Sheet Metal Department in accordance with established procedures and safety guidelines. Inspect parts coming off machines for quality, accuracy, and proper measurements. Use a tape measure to verify dimensions and ensure parts meet required specifications. Work with basic hand and power tools as needed to complete production tasks. Handle and move materials and parts safely, including lifting items up to 50 lbs. Follow work instructions, production schedules, and quality standards in a manufacturing setting. Maintain a clean and organized work area to support efficient and safe operations. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve production issues and improve processes. Perform overtime work and occasional Saturday morning shifts when required to meet production needs. Essential Skills Experience working in a manufacturing setting. Ability to read and accurately use a tape measure. Capability to lift up to 50 lbs safely and repeatedly. Comfort working with basic hand and power tools. Attention to detail when inspecting parts for quality and measurements. Ability to follow safety protocols and standard operating procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications Ability to read blueprints is preferred. Prior experience with hand and power tools is preferred. Work Environment This position is based in a manufacturing facility within the Machine and Sheet Metal Department. The standard schedule is 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with some overtime and occasional Saturday mornings when needed. The work is hands-on and may involve standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and using machines, hand tools, and power tools in a production environment that emphasizes safety and efficiency. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vernon, AL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
