About the

Role:

The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division (NSWCPHD) provides test and evaluation, systems engineering, logistics, and in-service engineering for U.S. Navy surface ship weapons and combat systems. Within the Sensors, Weapons & Launch Department, the Surface Launched Missile (SLM) Division supports ordnance management, lifecycle sustainment, and logistics for critical missile systems, including Standard Missile, Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile (ESSM), Tomahawk, and Vertical Launch Systems. This mission will be completed at the NSWCPHD detachment at the Naval Weapons Station in Seal Beach, CA.

We are seeking a Material Handler to provide inventory, warehousing, stowage, and equipment management support. This position plays a key role in ensuring mission readiness through proper material accountability, ordnance handling, and compliance with Navy requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Store, track, and distribute missile components and related materials in accordance with Navy requirements.

Perform physical inventories, sampling, and reporting (e.g., MLSR, magazine inventory reports).

Handle and move ordnance and missile assets using forklifts (including side-load/SwingMast).

Conduct maintenance and corrosion control on missile canisters (MK13, MK25) and canister cradles (MK28, MK29, MK37).

Perform wash rack operations, filter changes, and touch-up painting/stenciling.

Maintain explosive magazines, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and compliance.

Support hazardous material tracking, reporting, and safe handling.

Ensure compliance with Navy warehousing, stowage, and safety standards.

Requirements

Active Secret Clearance (required).

Minimum 2 years of experience in:

Magazine and ordnance handling, including cleaning, stowage, and labeling.

Preventative and corrective maintenance of missile canisters and related equipment.

Movement of missile assets using forklifts.

Certified forklift operator (swingmast/side-loader experience preferred).

Knowledge of

OPNAV 8023.24, OPNAVINST

4790.2, and

NAVSUP P-805

compliance preferred.
