The Inventory Control Material Handler is responsible for managing, tracking, and controlling raw materials, tooling, and machined components throughout the manufacturing process. This position ensures accurate inventory records, proper material handling, and timely delivery of materials to support precision machining operations while maintaining strict compliance with aerospace quality standards, traceability requirements, and company procedures.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Receive, inspect, identify, and store incoming raw materials, machined components, tooling, and production supplies. Maintain accurate inventory records using ERP/MRP systems and inventory control procedures. Issue materials, tools, and components to machinists and production departments while maintaining full traceability. Verify material certifications, lot numbers, heat numbers, and documentation to ensure aerospace compliance. Perform cycle counts and assist with annual physical inventory activities. Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions. Properly label, organize, and maintain inventory locations for efficient material flow. Coordinate with purchasing, quality, production, and engineering departments regarding material availability and status. Support production schedules by ensuring required materials and tooling are available when needed. Follow all safety procedures, quality requirements, and aerospace industry standards. Maintain clean and organized warehouses and material storage areas. Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, and overhead cranes as required. Assist with shipping, receiving, packaging, and internal movement of aerospace components. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Experience reading and understanding material certifications, work orders, prints and manufacturing documentation. Familiarity with ERP/MRP inventory systems preferred. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Ability to maintain product traceability and follow documented procedures. Strong organizational and communication skills. High School or GED Diploma required
Preferred:
Aerospace manufacturing experience. Knowledge of AS9100 quality standards. Experience with CNC machining environments. Familiarity with raw materials such as aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, and specialty alloys. Experience handling serialized parts and controlled materials. Forklift or material handling equipment certification.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift 50lbs., moving between buildings with work orders, product, etc. multiple times a day. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the workday. Ability to safely handle materials and components of varying sizes and weights. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to typical machine shop conditions.
