Your role Material Handler I - Columbus, GA Position Summary The Material Handler I supports the safe and efficient movement of materials required for dry blend manufacturing operations at the Columbus, Georgia facility. This role is responsible for the receiving, storage, staging, transfer, and inventory control of raw materials, packaging components, and finished goods while maintaining compliance with safety, quality, food safety, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements. The Material Handler I plays an important role in supporting production operations through accurate material handling and inventory management activities that ensure materials are available when needed and properly documented throughout the manufacturing process. Essential Responsibilities Receive, inspect, unload, and store incoming raw materials and packaging components. Accurately stage materials for production according to production schedules and work orders. Transport materials safely between warehouse and production areas using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other approved material handling equipment. Load and unload finished goods for internal movement and outbound shipment preparation. Perform inventory transactions and maintain accurate inventory records within applicable systems. Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory practices to support material traceability and product quality. Conduct routine cycle counts and assist with physical inventory activities. Verify material identification, lot numbers, quantities, and documentation for accuracy. Maintain warehouse organization, cleanliness, and product segregation requirements. Support production teams by ensuring timely delivery of materials to work areas. Follow GMP, food safety, sanitation, quality, and safety procedures at all times. Report inventory discrepancies, damaged materials, equipment concerns, or safety issues to supervision. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that support operational efficiency and inventory accuracy. Physical Requirements Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach throughout the workday. Ability to operate forklifts and other powered industrial vehicles. Ability to work in a manufacturing and warehouse environment with varying temperatures and noise levels. Work Schedule 1st shift, Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day. Overtime may be required based on business needs. About you Qualifications Required High School Diploma or GED. One or more years of material handling, warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing experience preferred. Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification. Basic computer and inventory system skills. Ability to accurately read production documents, inventory records, and material labels. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards. Preferred Experience in food, ingredients, dry blend, chemical, or manufacturing environments.
